Born to Alriu and Milcia Xhix, Zancore was the youngest and second son born in the Xhix family tree. Though known to have weaker biotics as opposed to his older brother, Xavier, Zancore would later grow into the universe's deadly assassin after finishing his training and schooling and becoming a fairly new princess, Amarantha (a ivory colored Prothean), of the Eletania Colony (This made her 12th in terms of how many princesses/queens the Protheans had). He would later earn the title Leader and Head of the Red Sand, and would soon be forced into a "marriage" with Amarantha (though a ceremony would never take place and it seemed to be a marriage by words). Though Zancore would soon bond himself to Amarantha's protection and her love, the feelings were not returned and instead she seemed un-thrilled or displeased with him at all hours. It would later come out that she did not care for Zancore and instead saw him as her tool that would bend to her every need or desire. This would all be correct, as Zancore would remove anything and anyone Amarantha demanded soon leading Eletania to almost become a dangerous place for anyone and their families who opposed Amarantha. Zancore would later take on an apprentice, Huginos Mikra or Mikra for short, in which he began to train the young boy into how to become as great as he. However, after receiving a task from Amarantha to remove a Political Upriser, Mikra soon learned that Zancore would kill anyone in his way in cold blood. After the slaughter of the Political Upriser and his family, Mikra resigned and left mentioning to Zancore that he needed to turn back before he became a monster on a chain to a madman. Zancore would blow it off and later resign Mavis Jiko as his second hand.
No more uprisers or mutters of Amarantha were heard in fear of lives, only praise was sung about her. This would allow Zancore to become relax and try to get some enjoyment from Amarantha. However, his love and his willingness to protect her safety took a drastic turn. During the months that would lead up to Eletania officially becoming a full Prothean City, Zancore learned a horrible truth that on the eve of coronation, a princess would receive a battleship that in truth was actually a Reaper, waiting for when they would begin the invasion. Fearing her life, Zancore raced to Amarantha's mother, the queen would be giving Amarantha her warship. After successfully breaking in and reaching the queen, Zancore soon learned that she was prepared and almost with no issue, disarmed Zancore and had him as a prisoner. Wanting her daughter to decide his fate, the queen sent Zancore back to Amarantha in chains with her guards telling her she had a choice over his fate. Believing that Amarantha would only demote him, Zancore returned without resistance however he would later regret this decision. "A fate worse than death" was his sentence as Amarantha was all too happy to remove this piece from her master plan. This fate would be to brand Zancore as a Fallen, a Prothean would is outcasted by society and unable to speak to anyone of any society. A life alone without even being able to even speak to his family or a way to get items to survive. Zancore would be branded with the mark and be cast out with only an old black armor and a tattered cape he had (he would later get his red assassin armor but for now he only had his black armor). He would later learn that his second hand Mavis was soon Amarantha's husband though the marriage would end violently as it turned out that Mavis was after the throne and killed Amarantha after their marriage, taking control of her warship and being the first official Prothean City without a queen. Zancore would soon find himself in an old ship he was able to salvage at Ilos where he would encounter his brother. Weak, tired, and lonely, Zancore begged his brother to help him, and since the excavation crew was not under a Prothean banner and with some push from Almatha (a female scientist), Xavier accepted Zancore into the site. Xavier was part of the excavation team on Ilos as they were learning about, who they called, the Rajin and why they disappeared almost 50,000 years prior at a peak of their civilization. Zancore would work as a grunt, watching over and dealing with anyone causing problems. However, the Reaper invasion had begun and Zancore was tossed into the mists of it. Using the cryopod, most of the team survived. As one of the six remaining, Xavier lead himself, Zancore, and a Prothean female scientist Almatha Loivus away from Ilos and the Citadel in an attempt to hide away while Ksad Ishan went to the Citadel with the remaining team. Believing their odds to be hopeless, Zancore would learn his brother was taking them to an ice planet in an attempt to hide out. This would leave the team to, unfortunately, become frozen.

Cut to about 49,960 years in the present (or a little more than 20 or 30 years before Mass Effect), when a team of scientists discover their bodies and using a new form of technology, were able to bring back Zancore and Xavier. Unbeknownst to them, the scientists had been using them in an attempt to further advance the human popular in terms of the space conquest (basically a pro-human group) and had learned about the Reaper War, began to make two lethal experiments, one from Xavier's DNA and one from Zancore's DNA. Xavier would later be found dead from, what the scientists assumed was a heart attack along with his experiments. Zancore orchestrated an escape and also had one of the scientists reveal to everyone on news outsources about the experiments conducted and the place being pro-human. He would later run into the Hanar, who would take him in, clothe him, and give him a mask that would disguise his appearance (kinda of made a hologram around him to form him into something he is not). They would also use him as an Assassin and keep him out of trouble if he happened to get in any. Along the way, he would meet up with the Spectre Saren Arterius to which he learned that Saren had donated some of his DNA to the group who experimented on Zancore (which at this point he learned the group went by Project Crystal) and Saren was able to teach him some of the languages of this era but mainly helped him learn sign language. The two seemed to start getting serious about being together but Saren's work would make it hard for him to remain with Zancore. Once Saren found out about the truth, he seemed to have changed and wanted to stop the humans progressing any further, which would later lead him to find Sovereign and become increasingly closer to losing control. Zancore would soon leave the relationship but would remain on the Citadel, until he heard rumors and reports about Saren and his warship. Fearing what happened, Zancore ventured to Noveria where he learned one of Saren's underlings was working at Peak 15. From here, he would find himself side by side with Commander Shepard, hoping to end the Reaper Invasion prematurely in an attempt to save the races living now.
TL;DR- Zancore use to work as an assassin for Prothean royalty, who he later loved so much he became blind to how much of a monster he had become. This all ended when he tried to save her from something grave and was later exiled in a fate worse than death itself only to end up on Ilos before the Reaper Invasion. Once the invasion ended, Zancore was one of the six to survive the Reaper Invasion on Ilos and went with two other to go hide and turns out that didn't work. Got frozen but was brought back by a pro-human group known as Project Crystal though was used in an experiment, along with various other (most notably Saren Arterius). After Project Crystal was disbanded, Zancore was collected by the Hanar who protected him and hid him using various technology. However, he meets up with Saren for a time until learning that Saren was doing Mass Effect's Saren business and went off to Noveria to figure out what Saren was up to and maybe rescue him.
