Mark's early life is, for the most part, uninteresting. He has lived in New Lamorey his whole life and has no intention of leaving. Like most wizards, he grew up not knowing much about the idea of being able to use magic, much less that he would be able to wield such powers. However, there are accounts of him as young as the age of 6 being able to move objects purely with the power of concentration, but he regarded them simply as part of a very active imagination. He finally acknowledged these skills at 19, when he was able to repeatedly shake a coatrack until it fell over.
Shortly after meeting Phill Bradford (Phoenix), he joined WANDS, an organization made up of wizards and necromancers, whose main goal is to keep New Lamorey safe from natural, supernatural, and artificial harm.
Mark is described by his teammates as being kindhearted, hardworking and incredibly strong, but he can be quite headstrong or close-minded at times. He is completely and utterly dedicated to keeping New Lamorey safe.
Trivia:
- Mark is the lead drummer in a band called "Labyrinth Lore"
- They haven't had a gig since they formed three years ago.
- They are not associated with the hit 80's fantasy adventure film featuring David Bowie "Labyrinth"
- Mark's name is NOT a reference to political philosophers Karl Marx and Friedrich Engles.
- He has no clue what he's gotten himself into with this whole WANDS business.
