There is Cormac, the homicide detective. He's a workoholic, almost a little too much into his job. He is also really great at it, almost concerningly so.

He has had some bad outcomes during psych evals, but  his superior officers have agreed on ignoring that... as long as he's  doing his job, as long as he's catching the bad guys, it's fine - right?

Eventually, Cormac gets targeted by a serial killer. This serial killer uses him as his messenger, sends him cryptid messages and riddles which solutions lead to new victims.

This serial killer plays with him, lets  him believe he can still save a victim, when it is already too late. This serial killer chose him because they are similar. Oh so very, very similar.

Then there is Mr. Monday, aforementioned serial killer. A faceless individual who is ruthless and claims to rid earth of its poison.

He is very well-spoken and intellectual. Sometimes he seems to know too much. He often makes fun of the police's inability to catch him and implies that he is closer than they realize.

Two opponents in the eyes of everyone else. The law and the lawless.

And yet, the mug filled with coffee on Cormac's desk... happens to have a  print on it: "This is my monday face"
