Reiko Saihara (宰原麗子 Saihara Reiko) is a major supporting character in the Jujutsu Kaisen series and one of the main protagonists of its prequel, Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Jujutsu High. She is recognized as a special grade at a young age and instead of being executed, she gets adopted by Masamichi Yaga. Later in the series is revealed that she is Satoru Gojo's younger sister.
Appearance
Reiko is of average height with an athletic build. They have ash purple hair with white slowly showing in their roots. Her eyes are naturally light blue but she wears Violet eye contents. Her eyes are also adorned with dark circles.
In the prequel, since they aren't officially a student of Tokyo Jujutsu High, she is seen wearing a black skirt, a grey turtle neck, and different cardigans throughout the prequel. Once becoming an official student, she received a specialized uniform. Reiko has a loose white uniform jacket which she usually rolls up the left sleeve. They wear the traditional uniform skirt but shorter than usual and thigh-high socks that match the purple of her hair. Post Shibuya, her hair gets significantly longer and is mostly white with only a little bit of washed-off purple in the half.
Personality
Reiko prefers to keep to herself most of the time, keeping an unreadable face most of the time. Reiko can come off as rather cold and cutting at times, growing up surrounded by powerful sorcerers taught her to be careful about her word choices. This contrasts with Yuji, Nobara, and Satoru's outgoing and goofy personalities, which often annoy Megumi but Reiko seems to be happy surrounded by these personalities.
As a jujutsu sorcerer, Reiko is extremely insecure in her abilities and reputation as a special-grade sorcerer, believing herself to be undeserving of the title. They were always in denial about being remotely related to the Gojo bloodline, doing everything in their power to differentiate themselves from Satoru. After her seventeen birthday, where she was given a birth certificate and DNA relationship testing confirming that they are indeed blood-related. Not only that, Satoru Gojo was her older brother. Endless nights of crying were what faced Reiko. Only seeing more and more of Satoru in herself through the Shibuya accident… Especially in her “Fight” with Toji Fushiguru. Reiko knew who he was by Satoru flexing how he escaped death that day. Well, to truly mirror her older brother, after having their chest cut open, they still survived. Leaving this fight not only full of physical scars but newfound insecurities.
The only people Reiko has demonstrated admiration for (after Suguru’s passing) are Maki and Nobara. Reiko admires Maki for having such a big determination to her goals and Nobara for being unapologetically herself, two traits she would die to have.
Abilities and Powers
Overall Skill Level: Among the special-grade sorcerers, Reiko is known to be the weakest special-grade sorcerer in the series, even if she holds immense amounts of cursed energy and a dangerously powerful technique the higher-ups labeled her as the weakest. This is suggested to be to maintain them from unleashing their max capabilities. Being another Cursed Spirit Manipulator the whole sorcerer is afraid Reiko is a ticking bomb for another Suguru Geto situation.
Hand-to-Hand Combat: Most of Reiko’s opponents assume she would fight like a shikigami user and allow her cursed spirits to attack for her. Reiko uses this misconception about her technique to her advantage, letting her surprise opponents with expert martial arts skills in hand-to-hand combat. Being taught by none other than Gojo Satoru but never being able to beat him.
Great Tactical Intellect and reflexes: Reiko excels in the battle and laying out strategies, sometimes reading the enemy like an open book. In the prequel, Reiko is always seen with a book in her hand. More notable books about war strategies and human psychology. In the later arcs, we can see Reiko calmly explaining different plans and techniques to her allies. On the other hand, Maki always takes credit for Reiko’s quick reflexes to which Reiko clarifies… That she's scared of Maki. Her quick reflexes are almost seen in every battle, her being able to startle her enemies with their quick moves.
Weapons Specialist:: Some of Reiko’s curses are able to wield weapons themself or give them to Reiko. Notably the scythe, the bow, and the polearm. Their weapon of preference being the bow. According to Maki, Reiko used to wield the Katana pretty well. Sometimes even outsmarting Yuta during training. However, after one particular mission… Reiko grew afraid of using the blade.

Cursed Energy Manipulation

Immense Cursed Energy: Reiko was full of curse energy from a young age, just being seen as an unsettling kid from the view of non-sorcerers. Her curses were originally labeled as shikigami’s since Reiko’s technique hasn't been seen in centuries. Reiko retains massive amounts of cursed energy that were unraveled from their curses, her levels of curse energy being side by side with Yuta. Her presence was the most frightening of the special grades. Even through all this, Reiko has been labeled as the weakest special grade. This being by her lack of self esteem, being too similar to Suguru Geto, or simply because the higher-ups are too afraid of having another Night Parade of a Hundred Demons. She has a high understanding of how cursed energy and techniques generally work.
Reiko is capable of manipulating it to hide his residuals or imbuing energy into weapons among other applications. They are also able to read the flow of cursed energy of other sorcerers without any difficulty. Reiko understands that she carries vast levels of cursed energy and now knows how to apply it accordingly. She has been training her weak body and constantly strengthens in battle with massive amounts of cursed energy. Not only are Reiko’s attacks unpredictable upon reading her cursed energy, but her physical capabilities are enhanced tremendously. They mostly use this to improve their flexibility and speed.

| Reverse Cursed Technique (反転術式 Hanten Jutsushiki): Reiko is one of the few sorcerers who can use a Reverse Cursed Technique to heal themselves. This technique was taught to her by Shoko and perfected on her fight with
Dagon, where she almost lost her leg. Shoko also taught her how to convert it into output and apply it to others in order to regenerate lost limbs and heal would, something Satoru Gojo cannot even do. It wasn't a proper class, Reiko just saw how Shoko did it and learn it. |

Zodiac Curse Manipulation (黄道帯呪い操り Ōdōtai noroi ayatsuri): As the name implies, Reiko’s technique allows her to control HER cursed spirits. Curses created by Reiko at some stage of her life are all at her display to use. Contrary to Suguru, Reiko is unable to control Curses that aren't hers. At its prime, Reiko should be able to summon 12 astrological signs that contain their corresponding constellation on their forehead. These curses can carry different cursed weapons, some of them having their own unique ones. |

Osial is a tall man with sharp features. His eyes were decorated with perfectly done red eyeliner. The most noticeable feature of his face was the dark blue Piscis constellation that sat on the middle of his forehead. He wears a revealing midnight blue yukata. |

| Aquarius - Kraken (水瓶座 Mizugameza): Hydria with the Kraken engraved into it, never manifested as an actual curse. Reiko was just informed by Osial that he had it for cases of life or death situations. This is Reiko's most powerful curse. |

| Gemini - Panthers (双児宮 Sōjikyū): Two panthers, one white and one black. Twins are probably the most used curses by Reiko. Since they are reliable and fast, not only that but the most trained out of all her curses. |

| Capricorn - Black dragon (磨羯宮 makatsukyuu): a large dragon almost identical to the Rainbow Dragon owned by Suguru. the toughest skin among all Reiko's curses. It is a powerful curse capable of attacking with great, and brute force to crush Reiko's target. |

| Aries - golem/Asra (白羊宮 hakuyoukyuu): Asra is a tall mech with glowing pink cyclopean eyes and a glowing Aries constellation on his forehead. He wears black pants and shoes along with a fur jacket that has multiple openings which expose his shoulders. |

| Starry Night (星月夜 Hoshidzukiyo): A domain that floods the area with a starry fluid shadow that can rapidly produce any Zodiac curse Reiko desires. The downside of this is that the more curses Reiko summons the less her curses listen to her. In the Sedai colony arc, is seen that after summoning her biggest and potentially strongest curse Reiko gets put out of commission by her own curse. |

R.S.: A knife was gifted to Reiko by Yaga on one of her birthdays. A bone knife is already a weird gift coming from her adoptive father. However, Reiko still carries it with her in the daily. |
Relationships
Satoru Gojo
Satoru always wanted the best for Reiko, that's why when he found out Reiko was born and their mother was executed days after, he knew he had to get Reiko out of the sorcerer world. He looked for a family that didn't have connections to any sorcerer and dropped baby Reiko on their doorstep. Deleting any trace of Reiko’s existence. He thought he did a pretty good job until he saw Yaga Masamichi walk around Jujutsu High with a kid with white hair and blue eyes. He didn't want to believe his eyes, however, the curse energy from the child was one familiar. He still raised Reiko, always keeping her at an arm's length. Letting Suguru be the one to fill his role as a brother figure.
Suguru Geto
Satoru and Reiko have a running joke about which one of them was Suguru’s favorite. However, Reiko’s favorite was Suguru. Suguru was the first one to know that Satoru had a sister—a sister he had given to a non-sorcerer family in hopes to avoid the sorcerer lifestyle for her. When the two teenagers saw Yaga carrying a young girl with white hair and light blue eyes, Suguru had passed it off as just a kid that happens to look like Satoru. However, when the white-haired male was quick to leave the girl with Suguru and drag Yaga away… the dots weren't hard to connect. Reiko was quick to befriend Suguru, giving him the nickname Badtz-Maru or just Maru. Since the kid thought he looked like the cartoon.
Even after Suguru became a curse user, Reiko was still fond of him. Never called him any of his nicknames and just referred to him as “black-haired guy”. Unless they were talking with Satoru.
Panda
Panda is often overprotective of Reiko. Most people don't know they are adoptive siblings since they almost never share it to avoid questions. Of course, a panda and a human cannot be blood-related siblings but people still ask. Reiko refers to Panda as Nini. During the death/execution of Yaga, they were separated but Reiko still sent him a messily written letter wishing him well.
Masamichi Yaga
Her relationship with Yaga is… a wary one. Yes, He has always been her adoptive father, proving to accept this when she refers to Panda as her brother.
Shoko Ieiri
Reiko loved Shoko when they were younger, she spent most of her time around Suguru and Satoru so it was obvious that she would become closer to Shoko. Around Shoko’s high school years, Reiko would sit on her lap playing with Satoru’s glasses while the other two argued.
After Suguru’s passing, Reiko picked Shoko’s habit of smoking. Her first-ever cigarette was stolen from the older woman. Shoko was quick to notice one of her cigarettes was missing, offering Reiko another one and a shoulder to cry on.
Megumi Fushiguro
Reiko and Megumi met at a young age, both being kids Satoru Gojo “raised”. They never got along, since Tsumiki hated how Reiko wasn't able to remember their names. Mostly bonding over “hating” Gojo. Never bothering to get too close to each other, knowing the fate that awaits both of them. Still, they care about each other.
Nobara Kugisaki
While Reiko loves how confident Nobara is, Nobara loves how blunt Reiko is. Reiko was the last one to join the first years' thanks to her trip, Nobara got so excited to have another girl in the first years. Reiko, having the longest time in Jujutsu High, always made sure that Nobara had everything she needed and knew her way around the school. Reiko had created this habit of never getting too close to people, knowing that the sorcerer world would take them away from her. In the end, Reiko still befriended Nobara Kugisaki.
Yuji Itadori
Yuji reminded Reiko of Suguru, in the way he was willing to accept any nickname Reiko gave him. Loving every time Reiko called him ‘Strawberry’. After Yuji’s “death”, Reiko went through her days normally. Occasionally comforting her classmates in her own way, however moving on quicker than the rest. She has experienced loss countless times in her life, Yuji was just another person she got attached to way too quickly and left her just as quickly.
Happiest about his return, well as happy as she can show to be. Yuji rarely sees Reiko in battle but every single time she fights, he will find a way to praise her and tell her how cool she is. They admire each other a lot, and Reiko tries to do everything in her power to prevent Yuji from getting executed.
Maki Zenin
Reiko and Maki were quick to find a common ground, being called less of in the sorcerer world. Maki never understood why the higher-ups would destroy Reiko’s self-esteem at the core age of five years old. Maki could relate to this problem though, the two of them having a quiet agreement of taking care of each other after they shared their childhood one night. Each of them has a… weird way of caring about the other. Maki waking up Reiko at 5 AM almost every day to train, while Reiko always made sure they had breakfast together after training.
After Reiko officially became a student, things got more complicated. Especially with Reiko leaving Japan for an “overseas” mission the same week she and Megumi became students. Reiko was in a group chat with the second years, and even though Maki barely used it… she always made sure to react to the images Reiko sent.
Yuta Okkotsu
Reiko considers Yuta the first real friend they ever had. He didn't know about the sorcerer world and didn't care about the rumors around Reiko. He just knew that they were both special grades and that was supposed to be a big deal.
The beginnings of their love story are strange. Yuta’s dating history only being Rika and Reiko’s relationships not lasting longer than 3 months since her partners would either get bored of her or get unsettled by her aura/curse energy. It started with Gojo trying to get the two young special grades to befriend each other. Everyone around them knows about their feelings for each other, incredibly surprised by Reiko’s bold confession. The two of them are an amazing duo of sorcerers, rumored to be the strongest of this generation.
