To artists

His ears do not normally face forward; they are angled! The blue circle beside his head is the size of his head (not his ears). He has two wings on his back (behind him) and the cape attached to his sweater reaches down to his mid-back. Check his eyes in the second image to better see the pattern/shape in them.

Profile

Name: Liam Hod Albatross

Species: Resonaré

Gender: Male

Age: 21

Personality: His surname, Albatross, means compliant, decent, tranquil. These qualities coincidentally (or not so coincidentally) suit Liam well. He is very much a pacifist and doesn't condone of crime or violence for weak reasons. However, he does not have enough ambition to work against crime because music has engraved its roots into his core since childhood. He is also rather passive in nature, courtesy of his father's genes and his mother's willfulness. He always dreaded whenever his mother called for him since she never really talked about anything good. Of course he was resigned to it, as he never wanted to get on her bad side. He has learned to accept what other people throw at him, especially if they are people he loves or cares about. He would also rather lie than to hurt someone purposefully with his words.

Because she often protected him from all that was sinful with the world, Liam is, though not terribly gullible or naive, rather easy to fluster when it comes to the parts of life he isn't used to. Porn, violence, and crime are some of those things. He might be easy to surprise, but he can be brave when it comes to fight outbreaks, drunken assaults, or suspicious activity. Don't underestimate this biting peacekeeper.

Bio: Liam's mother, Laura, raised him from infancy with a motherly and womanly nature. When Liam was six, his father had been killed in a gruesome accident (crushed by steel beams near a construction site) due to someone's carelessness. Laura feared that Liam will meet the same fate and she became overprotective. He was gentle by birth, so just a little bit of scolding frightened him, and it happened any time he displayed mean behavior toward other children or disrespect to adults.

Once when he was eight, he had stolen a kitten who was being mistreated by the owner, a classmate. When the owner got him back, he mistreated the kitten again, riling Liam into slapping him harshly. Liam received the worst scolding yet, as well as a slap, from Laura, and he vowed since then to not hurt another person again. Well, as a result, he became insecure and careless with himself, while at the same time he regarded other people in a better light. Other students picked on him in the early years of high school due to his soft nature. Rumors that he would do anything anyone wanted spread quickly, but when it became apparent that wasn't true and that he barely responded to bullying, many grew bored of him quickly enough.

Laura couldn't take the judgments cast on her for marrying a man of lower class than her family, so she threw them aside and glued to her independence like butter on bread. She was a stubborn woman in the first place, so it was just a matter of time before she left their restrictive lives behind. However, her grandparents' and parents' strict beliefs had become ingrained into her very fiber. Although her husband was of a lower standing than them, she could not imagine anything less than the status of overachievers or sought-after careers for her son. She loved him too dearly to let him go astray, living in dumps and trash like the rest of those failures of a musician in their large city. Their own neighbors testified to their musical careers being wasted time, and look at their drug-addled lives now!

Liam grew up hearing about how badly the music world treated his father and his family. He grew up listening to many horror stories about their livelihoods, their rapidly depleting bank accounts, their increasing debts and need for loans, their terrible romance affairs and cheating lovers. The horror stories about the cheating got to Liam most. Despite all this, he still loved music like he loved Gofer, his pet hamster whom he cared deeply for six years. Loved music like Laura loved her son. Therefore, he believed music would be worth the risk of heartbreaks and heartaches. Always. Thusly, he decided to move to his university dorm in order to become independent and follow his dreams.

Description: Liam is somewhat tall, like his father. He has always had a skinny and slim frame due to taking after his mom. He wears a sweater with a high upstanding collar that can be folded down and a cape that reaches down his mid-back, a forest green turtleneck, and blue toreador pants that end just below the knees. There are stitch lines on the outer edges of his ears.

Like everyone of his species, Liam has a visible but intangible disc the size of his head and which floats beside his head. The disc visualizes the music that the Resonaré is listening to, and appears as three rings when there is nothing. Other people can watch as the disc of a Resonaré change while they listen. He has underdeveloped wings that do not grow. He also has typical Resonaré features like the dancing waves and diamond pupils in his eyes and play arrows in his ears.

About Resonaré (taken from species linked above)

  • Most Resonaré do not age after their prime and stay in that state until they die. They grow at half the speed of a regular human.
  • Resonaré live as long as their body's music record is played out - simply put, their lifespan. When they run out of music to sustain their own melody, they die before their melody is able to be completed as it can not go on without enough sustenance.
  • Normal Resonaré live for approximately twice a normal human's lifespan, although some may be much longer and shorter depending on how long their own melody is.

Arrow left General info:
They are humanoid beings that need sound, often specifically music, to survive. Their heartbeat is maintained by sound - music with the correct rhythm and tempo that resonate with the Resonaré are the most effective and do not need as much as other sounds to keep them going. However, sound rhythms that clash with them weakens them and they receive negative effects.
They do consume food and drink as much as any other creature. However, lacking in sound rhythms to sustain them would result in effects similar to arrhythmia and they will be severely weakened until they are able to regain their normal heart rhythm with sound, or else face death.

Arrow left Use of sound:
★ Music created by themselves cannot be used as sustenance but rather, a buff (positive status effect). Those with knowledge of how to create specific music are able to create tunes that can invigorate them, speed them up or increase their strength etc for a limited period of time. Some use them as a means to create sound that would specifically clash with another Resonaré, mostly in pranks but rarely for use in fights with others of the same species.

Arrow left Behaviour:
They tend to bunch together in groups or pairs - be it with their own kind or other species.
Those with access to technology would most likely obtain a music player as fast as possible to ensure a supply of sound when they need it.
The Resonaré Familia, as the name hints as a family, has a main home where they can return to, guided by their hearts. It is a hidden town which consists of mostly their own kind, though few other species sometimes stumble in and decide to stay there.
Adults that have offspring need to check on the heartbeat of their children to determine the closest possible sound that matches them and sustain them with that until they are able to venture out on their own.

Arrow left Traits:
They have no set general look to themselves and vary greatly from one another due to mixing with other species with their kind.
Their eyes always contain a dancing line between them that symbolizes their rhythm, it looks similar to that of a music visualization.
They have a floating disc that is always around them, be it behind or beside their heads. The disc visualizes the music that the Resonaré is listening to, and appears as three rings when there is nothing.
They have underdeveloped wings from birth, rare few have their wings grow throughout their lifespan. It is believed that this trait has been passed down from a crossbreed long ago.
On rare occasions, those few that stray off the usual path will end up having offspring with traits completely unheard of.
Those born with ears similar to that of a kemonomimi face problems in using headphones but some come up with ways to solve the problem themselves.
