Ihanelma is one of the most trusted members of Rose's crime syndicate. She is a poisoner, highly specialized and capable of synthesizing them out of normal household items. She went to school for chemistry rather than take over her family's pharmaceutical business, and when they attempted to arrange a marriage for her in a last-ditch effort to control the course of her life, Ihanelma cut them out completely. And she synthesized a special gene splice for herself: she made herself toxic even to the touch, so nobody would dare try it.

She cares very little for the company of others and completely shuns romantic connection; even those who are close to her know that she's a stone wall to any show of emotion or vulnerability. Perhaps the only person who knows her beyond the surface level is rose herself, after many years of careful excavation.
