Ash originally was part of his high school's swim and diving team, being one of the best people on the squad!...but he could never make the cut towards any college teams, despite puting up some nice times and scores.
However, the agility, stamina, and small bit of power Ash got from his swimming days helped with his backup sport of boxing, and also with the ability to quickly know an opponent's fighting style to know their weaknesses, Ash quickly became the world champ in the boxing circuit to his surprise!
Ash still does some cliff diving and swimming nowadays for fun and to keep him in shape, but has boxing as his main sport since he's got a title to defend!
