Tropaeolum is a well-meaning, but ultimately somewhat out of touch young molly. She takes very little agency in her own life and is largely influenced by the decisions of others, mostly just following along with what those close to her are doing. As a result, others tend to see her as somewhat devoid of real personality, and can be annoyed by her flip floppy attitude. Tropa tries very hard to please everyone, not realizing that she can't, and that it's foolish to try. She is then spread thin, with little room for what she wants, rather than what everyone else wants.

Tropa wants to include everyone regardless of the complex interpersonal relationships affecting it, and can be almost obtusely cheery and kind. She has an idealized version of the world where everyone is best friends and gets along, and she is very stubborn about trying to make that idea into reality. She has trouble accepting that other cats may not want to be her friend, and she automatically thinks of it as a flaw in herself that she must fix, and not a simple clash of personalities.

When she fixates on something, she fixates hard, and will not let go of an idea once it's wormed its way into her head. Tropaeolum is both a perfectionist and a workaholic, an often detrimental combination. Pretty much the only time her happy facade slips is when others try to encourage her to give up or take a break, in which case she becomes angry and snappy. She takes these suggestions as others telling her that she isn't capable or good enough to accomplish her goals.

Because Tropa focuses so much on pleasing others and making them like her, she's very tight-lipped about any problems she may have. She believes that if others knew about the turbulent emotions she goes through, that they would no longer see her as desirable, and that would crush her. She wants others to think of her as always happy and smiling and willing to offer a paw to anyone, but she does have her own demons. Demons that she'd rather do away with, but that follow her nonetheless.

Early Life

Tropaeolum was born to Nasturtium and Cress, with a sister, Floss, in a group called the Flower Club. Tropaeolum was always outgoing and helpful, which got him his parents’ favouritism. He still loved his sister though, and he always wanted to play with her and include her. But for some reason, she was never interested, and Tropa’s parents showed a similar disinterest towards their own daughter.

As they grew, Floss grew more and more bitter, while Tropaeolum grew more and more desperate to please their parents. Floss always made all sorts of mean remarks towards Tropa, and it really hurt him, but it also didn’t sit right with him that his parents would always dismiss Floss. She hadn’t really done anything wrong. All Tropa wanted was for his parents to love both of them.

Floss came out as no longer Tropa’s sister, but his brother. Tropa wanted to support Floss, but he was afraid that Floss wouldn’t like it if he were overbearing by it, so he decided to just quietly use Floss’s correct pronouns. Their parents brushed Floss off, and, like many things involving his brother and his parents, it made Tropaeolum very, very uncomfortable. He hated that feeling.

Floss coming out made Tropa think about the option of maybe being a different gender, and she realized that she was really a molly. She came out to her family, and her parents showered her with love and approval. Again, Tropa was confronted with the disparity in how her parents treated her compared to her brother.

Floss and Tropa continued to grow up under their parents’ watchful eyes. Floss only grew more and more distant as time went on, and Tropa longed to have a better relationship with her brother.

Tropa heard about the existence of a new group called the Ranger Team, who were to travel and expand the Flower Club’s territory. More importantly, Floss was going with them. Tropa joined the team, hoping that she could use it as an opportunity to reconcile with her brother. Although, if anyone asked, she said it was to find herself.

Floss didn’t seem so happy about it, though. He brushed off Tropa’s every attempt to talk to him, often even snapping at her whenever she tried too hard. It demoralized her a great deal, but she wouldn’t give up. She wanted to be a good sister, she really did, she just didn’t entirely know how.

Tropa followed the ranger team as they travelled. They were to check out a cave, but it went wrong. There was a cave in, and several cats died. Their leader, Forget-Me-Not, decided to quit right there. Many cats left in protest, but Floss stayed, therefore so did Tropa.

Forget-Me-Not settled down in the mountains, with the group never to return to the Flower Club. No, this group was the Flower Colony now, and both Tropa and Floss were members.
