The language spoken within The Gate, especially in interactions between Dieties and human souls. Other languages are still spoken in The Gate, but Fimil has developed within The Gate by souls, derived from the first human spoken languages. It is mainly used today for communication between souls from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. While not all souls speak it, it is often learned by most souls shortly after arriving in The Gate.

Because it is also used to communicate between humans and Dieties, its vocabulary has words that describe both human and nonhuman concepts.

While Fimil was originally a spoken language, a writing system has developed over the thousands of years it has existed. It was originally written on the leaves that grow in The Gate, but a papyrus-like writing surface was developed by processing these leaves.

A sign language was also developed within The Gate, but it has since branched off into a family of several different sign languages, unrelated to Fimil.

All Diety and Earthly Demon names are in Fimil.

Kafka and Hemin do not natively speak Fimil, as Fimil was a human creation, and their perceptions and communication do not resemble human language. Their communication is more comparable to radio wave transmission, but even this does not completely describe it.
