Despite her stand-offish disposition, Dr. Diana Diamond really isn’t that bad once you get to know her! She just has a…loose grasp on the concept of morality, at least by most people’s standards. It’s why Diana pursued a degree in Mad Science in the first place — why should she care about pointless things like “laws”, “ethics”, or “basic lab safety”? There’s experiments to be done and things to learn!

Nowadays, she’s plenty content to spend her days in her lab (which is really just her basement) doing whatever eccentric experiments that come to mind, alongside a few..."freelancing gigs", so to speak. She’s never been one to focus on one singular area of study, but it seems that she’s become a bit fixated on botany lately…huh! Certainly nothing to be worried about there, probably.

While not rich by any means, she made a living for herself through her past job, working for a corporation that carried out less-than-ethical experiments on behalf of less-than-ethical individuals. Diana certainly didn’t mind the job, and even managed to form a few friendships with other like-minded scientists (which is an accomplishment for her, considering she's not the most outgoing person), but she’s since left the company. She doesn’t like to talk about it.

Really, Diana doesn’t like to talk much at all. She’s always struggled with intense social anxiety; less in a “cutesy” way and in more of an “oh my god how did you survive this long” kind of way. She finds it impossibly hard to strike up conversation with others, to the point where she finds it easier to simply not try to form relationships at all. If she had things her way, she’d just shut herself in her lab all day, and not venture out for anything but, like, groceries. She did manage to live like that for a short while.

That is, until an alien moved in with her and her whole life changed forever.

Her initial friendship with Alice was a complete accident, honestly! Alice was just so eager to learn about Earth and become friends with a real-live human, how could Diana turn her away? Cue the classic alien-and-scientist roommate shenanigans. While Alice’s energetic and optimistic nature was a little hard to get used to, it was a fine change of pace. Maybe even a little nice.

The two of them grew close over the years, much closer than Diana had ever been to anyone else. With Diana’s help, Alice was able to hone her shape-shifting abilities to take on a fairly convincing human form, so she can take part in human society and enjoy earth just how she always dreamed of doing!

And then they fell in love and now they’re cool trans lesbian wives wow!!! It was all very cute and gradual and nice I promise. They do practically everything together, whether that involves baking a batch of cookies or dissecting a human being. Ain't that what love is all about?
