Ildis

Ildis is a god-like fire spirit that lives in a volcano in the middle of the ocean. Through their great power, they are able to protect nearby islands from diaster.

Ildis was created by the death of a god, who's spirit was split into different pieces and scattered across the world. These fragments became spirits that protected their surroundings, and would find power in their environmental change. When the god's spirit fragmented, a portion of it fell into a volcano that had been dormant for centuries. This created Ildis, the Wrathful Flame Spirit, to take shape, causing the volcano to become active once more. Ildis became a manifestation of the god's rage and desire for revenge after being betrayed by their lover. This caused Ildis to lay waste to the surrounding area in their anger.

Over time, Ildis has grown to see that the destruction they caused was pointless. It wouldn't change anything that happened. The longer that they were split from the other parts of their being, the more they become their own. Ildis decided to try and fix their mistakes by protecting the islands that had seen their wrath, and quickly became known as a benevolent being.

While benevolent, Ildis is still known for their powerful anger. Among the wildlife of the surrounding islands, it is known that to anger Ildis is to seek death itself. It is common to curse someone on the name of Ildis in those islands, as a way to express anger and hatred towards another.

To reunite the fragment spirits of the fallen god lost to time would cause a rebirth of said god. Many believe that this would mean the end of the world as we know it.
