Hallo,
I have some original characters. They are original. They are not recolors, I swear. Do not steal my shitty recolors. I guess you probably shouldn't steal my OCs either. But honestly my Metal Gear Solid recolors are more important anyways. Which is why I hate Hunt Down the Freeman. They friggin stole my Solid Snake recolor. What the shit? My Solid Snake Recolor is original, why you steal?
Sorry. Anyways, this account is not completely up to date but I hope to try and update some things. I don't know how to draw (at least not yet), so physical depictions of my own characters that aren't commissions tend to be created in video games with character customization. Thus, why you will see a lot of Sims 3 photos.
I have had a few AUs in the past, but the only one that has really consistently kept my interest these past years has been UNsanity. UNsanity started out (and sort of still is) as a simple concept during my high school years. I am sort of embarrassed to admit it, but I suppose the foundational element of UNsanity was inspired by the first episode of Hetalia; a conference full of several (what really should have been) diplomats arguing and doing stupid shenanigans. I decided that I would use Gary's Mod to present this, considering that I had access to the excellent Suits and Robbers and Combine Administrators addons to use as the ambassadors. I made a few rather cringeworthy comics and several concepts that never saw the light of day, but the characters and concepts didn't completely die. If anything, they continued to persist. The first wave of ambassadors were just played by these Gmod ragdolls, so this is why you will see several Gmod characters as profile pics and more for the original group. I suppose it was also sort of inspired by American Dad, South Park/ Team America:World Police and some of the other edgy humor of the era, as many of the initial character concepts were mostly based off of stereotypical archetypes: the neoconservative Bush-era American who quoted 80s references for reasons(?), the aggressive Russian who drinks vodka, the Chinese ambassador obsessed with eating dog, the ex-IDF Israeli ambassador so paranoid that she didn't really sleep or trust anyone and therefore ran on coffee. I even stole the concept of including Bill Clinton from Kitty0706's (rip one of the greatest gmod youtubers ever) Elliot Goes to School series; he was supposed to skulk around sexually harassing women. The original French ambassador was the Spycrab, i.e. Team Fortress 2's spy. Nevertheless, these characters have been worked on (or outright removed) over the years. I also liked the Sims 3, but for recreation more than comic-making.
Of course, Gmod has its limitations, and I wanted to move past these limitations. Additionally, Gmod, especially when not properly planned (An outline? Why would I write one of those?) can be time consuming and very crash friendly, especially for a high schooler with a job. Compounding on this, I had (have?) a sort of short attention span and would move on rather quickly to other projects or items. I had a lot of ideas, many of them good, but few of them were actually executed, and when they were it tended to be of poor quality. How unfortunate. The biggest issue with Gmod was its restriction on characters. I didn't/don't know how to use Blender, so it wasn't really an option for me to create new character models. I simply used whatever was available on the steam workshop or in the source files themselves. But I had more ideas for characters.
The biggest break was the character of South Korean Ambassador Myeong Rhee. Rhee's character was introduced in the unreleased "Asianity" comic for three primary purposes: to provide the otherwise utterly paranoid Aviva Goldhirsch with a friend, to provide some more representation in Asia (alongside her was introduced the Japanese character Saburo Ito; Before that, the only Asian in the UN was the Chinese ambassador, Yin Park. And Yin Park had some.... stereotypical tastes when it came to food.), and to create an overly nice and optimistic ambassador that conflicts with the more cynical and selfserving ambassadors in the UN. The rest of the ambassadors (including Goldhirsch, the only implemented female ambassador at that point) had models with suits. Myeong did not have that. I simply used one of the Asian HL2 refugee models with a white shirt and carefully oriented camera shots so that her unprofessional jeans (not how I envisioned the character) would not be visible. This made shots tedious and longer to setup. We can see Goldhirsch's skirt and everyone else's pants. Why not hers? Simply put, I couldn't really create any new characters to implement in the comics. Senior year of high school, I became extremely busy with new activities, so UNsanity and the other AUs started fading into the background. By my year at college, UNsanity was the last thing on my mind, a relic of my youth, and I have only a diary entry with their familiar names basically saying "improve your characters" to prove that I even thought about it at all.
Early 2019, certain events (and a concussion) forced me to reroute myself to doing other hobbies other than vidya and looking at screens. Horribly bored and out of options, I had to resort to my own human creativity. UNsanity was one out of two projects that came to the forefront of my mind during that period. The other project (basically a hybrid RPG/Turn based strategy game loosely based off of Total War Shogun 2 Fall of the Samurai and another AU of mine, involving the RISK board game, Lego mini figures and a notebook) died almost immediately after I felt that it was ok to play PC games again, if you are for some reason curious. I started writing stories for my now updated UNsanity characters, and soon I would get my own Toyhou.se and their updated and/or new biographies released. I called it an UNsanity renaissance at the time.
Sometimes I have the energy to finish and publish these stories, sometimes I don't. But even if not every detail actually gets out to the public, I sure do love my characters.
