Keszeg / Bream

Freshly recruited into the Bounders, Keszeg is eager to serve and please the people of the Shire. However, when his errands lead him into the Yondershire he discovers more than just a simple military corruption, but a glimpse of a future occupation, and a very real brigand threat. He witnesses one of Fredegar Bolger's speech of warning of this threat. and finds likeminded hobbits starting to form a secret rebellion, based in the woods of Gamwich.

When the real occupation and scourge of the Shire begins, and he can no longer leave the woods of Gamwich, he joins their effort tenfold. They are too few to actually pose a real threat to Sharkey's men, but they are gathering informations, stealing and distributing food and neccessities to hobbits. Keszeg, being an excellent hunter, skilled with the bow and quick on his feet, becomes their scout and messenger.

When their hide is ultimately discovered and their leader Fredegar is captured, he and the few who could escape with him find the hobbits of Gamwich ready to give them a safe place to hide. He hides with Kormorán's family, who he helped the most (absolutely not because he is madly in love with Kormorán or anything).

Kormorán becomes very worried about his sister in Needlehole, and Keszeg has not been able to see his family in Buckland for months, so once he deems it safe, he leaves Gamwich to check on their family members, and to find where the captured members of the rebellion are held. He gets to Needlehole first to check on Kormorán's sister, but he is quickly discovered. He tries to run and fight, but one of the men shatters his left knee with a club. He is taken to Michel Delving, where they have set up the prisons, and "reunites" with the rest of the resistance. There they don't get enough food, not to mention proper medical care.

When Frodo and co return and free the Shire from Saruman, and the prisoners are discovered and freed, Keszeg's leg is healed, but badly. Him and Kormorán have a hasty wedding, but Keszeg is soon unable to walk or even just stand, and heeding the advice of his aunt Petrezselyem, they travel to Rivendell to ask Lord Elrond for help.
