Profile

The mascot and pet of the GemGrove! Found stuck in drying mud, Topaz pulled the bright crocogator out of the ground. They've became friends since then.

Physical Description:

For unexplained reasons, no one in the Gemgrove can understand why Waterdog has magenta eyes. It strangely matches Topaz, but Topaz recalls Waterdog always having bright pink eyes. From nose to tail, she's about 10 feet long and is still growing. Her skin is a seagreen color covered in yellowish green stripes across her body.

Personality:

Waterdog tends to act very stationary and doesn't move often. She gets surprisingly happy when the gems are home, content by their presence. Waterdog is usually found bored laying in random places. She likes throat scratches and pulls her head back when wanting one from the gems. The only person Waterdog dislikes the most is Heliotrope, a bloodstone gem soldier who often picks or berates Clear Topaz. Waterdog growls whenever she's nearby, ready to snap at her feet.

When any of the gem's forms are poofed, Waterdog will approach and feel her motherly instincts kick in. She will scoop up any visible gems and hold them in her mouth in a protective teeth casing. Waterdog has trouble telling which gem is who and will treat them all equally with utmost care. When they form again, they rise from waterdog's mouth and reappear midair. Waterdog happily wags her tail, overjoyed to see her friend(s) return.

Backstory:

During a drought, a crocogator gets entrapped inside thick mud and becomes unable to escape. It was a passing white individual who sees the poor animal affixed to the dried sludge before pulling them out with ease. Being extremely grateful of being freed, the crocogator follows the unknowing Clear Topaz all the way home to her elite temple base. Topaz then decides to name her after what the humans call a dog. Because she loved swimming in their oasis so much, Topaz brilliantly calls her "Waterdog". Emerald, the group's leader, gives her a confused look before lightly chuckling and allowing the green crocogator to stay. As long as Topaz takes care of her, Waterdog gets to comfortably sleep her day away in her favorite gem's lap.

Ongoing Story:

Sleeping in the elite temple base, rarely being seen outside unless joining the gems on their adventures. She is randomly found in different areas of the base napping. Is suppose to be on guard duty, as Topaz likes to think.

Abilities:

A fast swimmer, equipped with powerful jaws that can rip and shred enemies. With the ability to gallop on land, she can do short burst runs of 20-30 meters before getting tired. Waterdog tends to roll over to avoid attacks, but she tends to be slow moving overall. If needed, Waterdog can be ordered to growl on the spot to make herself appear fearsome. Her guttural growls can be heard from quite a distance away, usually used for scaring troublesome humans off. Topaz has discovered her mouth acts as a portal to another dimension, being able to store objects that can fit within her maw. The enigma surrounding Waterdog is strange...
