"Want to hear about planets?"

Martin is a young man sent off to a private funded school to study various bookish things such as astrology|astronomy, botany, alchemy and other similar fields . His siblings instead went off to a mage school but due to a congenital deformity of his legs and frail health his parents thought it best to send him to a place of nicer weather, learning and medical care.

Extra:

He loves to talk about planets and the stars, and has a fascination with purple.

Wears a symbol of the school he attends at all times, though he rarely wears the uniform.

Has no magic potential despite his family being relatively well known mages in his birthtown. Has a suspicioun he was sent away to avoid being an embarrasment, but he wont let that get him down.

Has a Valgus Deformity in the right leg, where they knee and lower leg face away from the center line. Has symptoms of arthritis and sometimes walks about with a cane or assistive tools.

Often wears loose-fit trousers, leggings and anything stretchy. May wear a brace on the lower leg.

Personality

Positive: [Adventurous] | [Cheerful] | [Forgiving] Negative: [Anxious] | [Calculating] | [Delicate] Neutral: [Familial] | [Impressionable] | [Self- conscious]

Martin is outwardly a very friendly, adventurous and cheerful young man. He likes to make friends and share what he knows. This can also extend to the child giving away too much information, things he has, or otherwise. He forgives most slights easily, this could be attributed to how he feels internally and in the moment may laugh at any mean-spirited comments or jokes. He is an anxious person, easily upset and conscious of his own faults. He tends to be his worst critic and lets any ‘mistakes’ linger in his mind and thus takes any harsh words strongly. He may well keep unspoken grudges.

To those he considers friends he tends to pick up on their mannerisms, for good or bad, and likes to follow his peers with trends, such as clothing, words, behaviors, etc. He almost never calls anyone by their titles, not for lack of respect, but he’s a habit of thinking most everyone is a personal friend. It does take some stern reminding to get him to use titles properly. Friends may acquire unrequested nicknames.

As for his preference in learning and action, he can at times let childish impulse win the day but more often than not he prefers to sit back and observe first. In school he relishes being asked to answer any questions, but also doesn’t want to be the center of attention. He often requests teachers not call on him unless he volunteers.  As for conflicts, no better way to win something than studying the weaknesses of the opponent. He considers this the best option as his body doesn’t physically come up to par with others, so in a race he may ‘cheat’ to win, as long as he doesn't get caught. Anything that starts up before he has time to plan his course of action generally results in his loss and subsequent distraught. Darn if only he was ready.

History

Martin was born to Yvonne and Ingram Willofer, their youngest son. Before him came his elder sister by a year, Morgan, and five years prior his elder brothers Mason and  Myles. While his entire family and his predecessors before his parents were mages, Martin had none of that ability. Instead he was born with twisted legs, some of which could be corrected with extensive physical therapy, braces and wraps. However his right leg remained splayed out since birth with a valgus deformity.

In his youth, and as soon as he was able to walk about, he was schooled at home and in secrecy, but as his parents and siblings became busier and busier with their mage training and work, little time was left to tend to Martin. Thus when he reached ten years of age his parents opted to send their youngest to a city north of Faline, to the Paradise University of Practical Knowledge, where their hope was only students and teachers would interact with him. His lodging and such were paid well in advance and a notice that Martin should say on school grounds during holidays and breaks. His parents wouldn’t be home anyways. During these breaks Martin instead would sneak out to visit the nearby town, paying farmers and locals to hitch his way to the big city for the weekend or break. When he’d return he’d face scoldings but not much else as his parents were very off-handed with the school’s systems.

Martin did otherwise obey his parents wishes and stayed on  grounds for the majority of his stay, yet five years of nothing but  teachers and students grew boring and he had a habit of being more  rebellious in a general sense. During off periods he would roam into the  nearby forests and towns to see the people, wanting to meet and learn  more than just what was taught within the walls of the University. They  also couldn’t cater to his ravenous desire for knowledge and Faline had  some rather large libraries he preferred to get lost in.

As  of current, just recently turned 15, Martin hopes to expand his  knowledge of both the sciences and people, mixing in some practical  experience versus just book knowledge. He has, as of current,  ‘abandoned’ his residence at the school and snuck off to Faline to  pursue his interests and see more of the world, at least until the  school tracks him down again.
