About

Beat is a very standoffish squid. Even those Beat considers to be close have a hard time getting any words out of them. They prefer any other form of communication to verbally expressing themselves. Talking to Beat is like talking to a wall, they'll always be there to listen in conversation, but seldom chime in. It is difficult for Beat to form strong bonds with others, as they have no interest in being vulnerable. Luckily, Break doesn't need Beat to be vulnerable, Break just likes to have someone to constantly ramble to.

Together, Break and Beat form the band the Splat of the Lands As a duo, they produce songs in genres comparable to big-beat, breakcore and drum n bass. Often, they take turns being the vocalist and the DJ. However, Beat typically prefers to DJ and Break prefers to do vocals. Their band is not notably popular, but they have a small, devoted fanbase.

Alongside their careers as musicians, Break and Beat regularly participate in Salmon Runs through Grizzco Industries in order to make a living, as they aren't able to ensure a stable income through music production alone. This duo is found by other Inklings and Octolings to be quite intolerable. Break and Beat are notoriously difficult to work with due to their many shortcomings in communication. Break spends much of their shifts going on and on about their latest interests and mundane thoughts with no time left for them to strategize. Beat goes radio silent during shifts and has trouble asking for help when in a compromising situation. Surprisingly, they work very well together. The two find their lack of communication to allow them to focus on their own tasks and they oftentimes understand each other without verbally communicating. To some, their skill in non-verbal communication is creepy.
