Powers
Reno's strange abilities aren't unique to her, as they are intrinsic to Haven.  Scientists theorize that Haven draw energy from the mysterious dimension called Fourspace, and their ability to enter and move through it at will allows them to travel incredible distances in the blink of an eye.  They also seem to have a unique relationship with time, but much less is known about this.
In more certain terms, Reno is able to essentially teleport by moving through Fourspace.  She can take anything small enough to embed in her body, but not people.  She relies on instinct to navigate Fourspace, which gets exponentially harder the farther away her target location is.  Technically, she could travel forward or backward in time as well, but that is incredibly difficult.  She doesn't like using this ability, as she finds existing in Fourspace uncomfortable.
She is made out of a dark, gooey substance, referred to as Halo.  Her features and humanoid form are a result of her self-perception- since she sees herself as a person, she looks like one.  Her more monstrous features are likely due to a discomfort or fear of her own nature. As the story progresses, her features sharpen and become less generic as she builds a more stable self-image.  Halo itself is an astronomically energy-dense material, able to break down nearly any type of matter and convert it into more Halo.  It can also form incredibly strong crystal lattices, giving it the potential to form very sharp and/or strong forms.  As a result, Reno can eat anything and convert it into Halo- more stable things such as metal take a longer time to "digest", and she isn't affected by any dangerous properties (can't get poisoned, drunk, etc).
She eventually learns how to use her Halo to "heal" certain injuries by speeding up the target's natural healing process.  This process is very energy intensive for her, and tends to scar.  It only works on injuries the body would be able to heal naturally, so immediately deadly wounds, spinal injuries, etc are out.
