Abyss was a jealous, cold-blooded brother who wanted to be the 'best' brother. Though, the method that ended with could have been better, instead of him shoving his brother off a ledge to get impaled from sharp rocks. After this was found out, Abyss got sent to prison on Iron Island Prison, built in recent years. At first his time there wasn't too terrible, sure people being loud and angry, but that isn't what got to Abyss, at least originally. It brought him to realize he cannot take on any of the inmates for the most part if a fight were to break out, and it was probably not a good idea to pick a fight, with an Aggron. He was terrified of Deathgrip, he was afraid of the other inmates. Over time stress built up inside Abyss, until he broke and couldn't take it anymore, he wanted out, for the sake of getting his life back on track! It ended with him breaking into tears, into his cold exterior shattering, leaving a frightened Absol.

It seemed that not all was lost, as one night Deathgrip started a riot, one so aggressive that not even their tight security, even the warden couldn't contain it. Abyss managed to get out amongst the calamity, sneaking and ducking past all the violence up to the harbor complete with some simple row boats. Unfortunately, Deathgrip, being one of the most dangerous inmates, he is able to fight off security and rush after Abyss. He caught him, and attempted to either drown or even break his neck, but the warden had initiated a self destruct on the prison, which blew Deathgrip into the water, and shoved Abyss' boat from the dock with the blast. This also knocked the Absol unconscious. He woke up that morning with the boat washing up on a beach. He had a feeling that, not everyone was gone, that maybe the warden is after him, even Deathgrip could have miraculously survived, so to hide from the heat, he fled into the mountains of Sinnoh, up in Snowpoint. He was living in less cold climates, but he adapted to the cold, and lived there since then.

Eventually, he encountered a Leafeon travelling through the snow down below, but his disaster senses were going off. A blizzard was headed his way, he'd freeze to death! So while he sat down to rest in a cave on the side of the path, Abyss rushed in, warned him of the blizzard, and got him onto his back, he was gonna carry him to Snowpoint, because it was walled off by the environment, it'd provide much greater shelter! it wasn't smooth sailing though, because a Weavile named Gladius was in the way. Abyss easily dispatches Gladius, and rushes to snowpoint, just avoiding the blizzard. About nine years later, the Leafeon comes through on greater, but busier terms, he was there delivering medicine to Snowpoint after a Vileplume Stun Powder incident, again Gladius is still around, and he knocks out the Weavile again, letting the Leafeon carry on his way. Abyss stopped at Snowpoint shortly after to see if he could offer any help, and that he could, by helping give the victims medicine to cure the paralysis. The Leafeon, now known as Venre, the Guardian of Sinnoh, was pleased by his helpful and soft personality, so he offered Abyss the job as his Partner, the name for a Guardian's sidekick, essentially. Finally, a chance to prove he's changed, alongside Venre, he could make a better name for himself! So of course, he without hesitation took the offer.

He has recovered from his anxiety, so he's glad to fight for Venre, being he is a pacifist and will never strike at anyone, but he does, have his limits. During one of the Guardians jobs, they were dealing with a hungry Dragalge cannibal named Dredge, and problems that arose in Lumiose City, Abyss, Venre, Gracidea and Mars went to deal with Dredge, while the others stayed behind. In a fog created by Dredge, she had the jump on Abyss, and shot him in the face with acid, which hit him right in the left eye, burning it up, which since then has left him half-blindsided, only seeing through his right eye. The damage has made it so he keeps his left eye always concealed behind the fur on the left side of his head, by keeping it brushed over his eye, or even turning his head to hide it, he just feels too self-conscious about it. Even then, nobody treats him differently, even Venre is not concerned by it, he'll always be his 'Abby,' no matter how he looks.
