Profile
Catherine Desaulniers
reclusive • talkative • friendly
"she came to the manor to find the secret to her father’s work. the last remnant she has of him... or so she thinks."
catherine is a very kind individual. this is truly the basis of her personality - and it shines through in most of her actions. though she tends to be a bit reclusive, this doesn't translate into a bad personality at all. she's actually rather talkative, when given the opportunity, and is the prime definition of a sweetheart. unless, of course, you do something to upset her, she will be generally pleasant to incredibly friendly depending on who you are.
...though, that isn’t to say she is all sunshine. she can have quite the mean streak, though usually it’s well deserved.

gameplay
- survivor. difficulty ??
- item: camera. he lenswoman carries with her a camera that she can use to take photographs during the match. she can take four photographs per match, one for each survivor. these can be used as decoys, temporarily displaying her image or another survivor’s image as that of another within a certain area range. (injury status animations will stay as they were before the decoy was deployed, ex. injured survivors still have the injured running animations, there is still a trail, etc.) (decoy range is similar to that of the dancer’s extended reach boxes.)
- external trait: long skirts. a lady of her stature must always dress appropriately. the lenswoman always wears long skirts, making running and vaulting more difficult. running and vaulting speed is reduced by 15%.
- external trait: well-educated. due to her extensive education, the lenswoman is good with machines as well as ciphers. her decoding speed is increased by 5%.

Moodboard
the formative years.
cathy was born to one single father joseph desaulniers on a brisk, but admittedly rather nice for the season, november morning. yet, despite who her father was, and the nature of her upbringing, she wasn’t spoiled in the sense of being a rich brat, nor was she neglected. joseph wasn’t the best parent, but he wasn’t the worst- and she loved him nonetheless, looking up to the man.
she was rather quiet and reserved growing up, would rather read books and follow after her father while he worked. she had a devouring interest in learning, in knowing things, and it was incredibly prominent as she aged- literature, languages, maths and sciences, she dabbled in them all even despite her thirst for knowledge being considered to be a bit “unladylike.” and she was encouraged, even as joseph withdrew further and further into his work with cameras, and she was left to her own devices more and more often.
she never minded, though. in fact, there were times she would sneak into his workroom, pestering him until he let her watch (from a relatively safe distance, of course. the fumes from the cameras were no joke!) as he worked. and thus, an interest of her own was formed, and as her dear father grew more secretive, shielding her from the darkness of his own experiments, she turned to her own studies in photography- determined to find a way to make the current styles of cameras more portable, as it really would be much more convenient, she thinks. but there’s still a long way to go regarding that: she’s only a child, after all.
the disappearance.
when her father disappears, she’s nearing her teenage years. it’s a stormy night, a perfect metaphor for what’s about to happen- and what does happen. carrying metaphorical torches and pitchforks, the townsfolk that lived in the town the desaulniers found their home in stormed the manor, a manhunt started for the count that was suspected to be cause for the disappearances of many.
but joseph desaulniers was not there- only catherine, terrified and distraught after realizing what had happened. her father was hated and gone, and now she was alone.
she stayed in the house after that, raising herself the best she could. she kept even more to herself- while she was never blamed for her father’s actions, there was still a stigma around her and the desaulniers name, and so she rarely left the manor, becoming as reclusive as her father had once been. she worked on her projects, recovered what remained of joseph’s notes, and started new projects- very much taking after the man, working to capture the essence of the soul in a mere photograph.
the manor.
she never succeeded to the extent joseph did, obviously, but in her own way, she did- and it’s when she finally found her prized project to be complete, a letter shows up at her doorstep. a most peculiar letter, with a strange seal-
- and an offer to help her discover the secret to her father’s work- and maybe even the man himself, if only she goes to this manor.
the lady desaulniers packs up her camera and most prized belongings and clothes, and is gone the very next day. as for what remains of the desaulniers home..? who knows.
her feelings regarding her father are a bit mixed, though ultimately aren’t negative. mostly, she’s worried about actually finding him again- and how he’d feel about her after all this time. she still looks up to him greatly, after all.
in terms of her relationship with galatea, it is romantic in nature, and primarically nonphysical. she had found the other woman incredibly interesting before their involvement, and continues to find an interest in her partner's art.
