Historians detail the God of Temperance's emergence as part of the "Age of Ascension," where many beings of divine nature achieved heights of which no mortal could conceive. He is the first, and last, acension to be looked upon favorably in the eyes of the gods.

Zahir's existence predates the beginning of the War, as he did not begin as a god; prior to reaching divine enlightenment, Zahir's origin can be traced back to the Choir of Angels. Previously a Seraphim, Zahir already maintained a level of popularity throughout the mortal realm by way of his reptuation as a "guardian angel," often through the form of a barn owl. The people lauded Zahir's reason, good nature, and careful eye as a beacon of austerity. The concepts of right and wrong—he could grasp them more astutely than other divinely beings.

That is why, when the first cataclysmic battle took place in the center of the Material Realm, the people—wishing not to fall into vice—sought virtue in their adversity. They looked to the heavens. Looked to the angels, whose battle against Evil stood against the test of time. Zahir, as a seraphim, worked tirelessly to encourage mortals take the right paths in their lives. In this, his virtue and self-assuredness earned him the right to Temperance, and thus, Zahir joined the pantheon. Not as a servant of the cosmos, but a staple of faith.

During the War, Zahir aided churches in their blessings toward the common folk, as battle did not delight Zahir so much as upkeeping the home soldiers would return to after their fight. That is not to say that Zahir did not witness battle firsthand, however; against forces of monsterous evils and pacts forged in Hell, paladins and clerics called upon Zahir's alignment to vanquish the darkness.

As a child of Balance and Equity, Zahir reminds those who practice his faith to be true in their intent and to avoid obsessions that corrupt the mind so deeply. To be harmonious with oneself is to be in harmony with the world.
