Umbrachen is a gray martian from the tiny haunted moon Deimos, where martian souls with unfinished business come together and magic is far more abundant and utilized than in the scientific society of Mars. Umbra grew up studying the magic of death in her witch academy, giving her a lifelong love for the macabre side of the world. She took this a step further and began learning the forbidden arts of necromancy and black magic after graduation. But Deimos was home to a sparse population and no native life, so Umbra would need to move somewhere with far more life to have more dead to work with.

So at 20 years old, Umbra left Deimos behind to move down to Earth. She had to go down to a Martian spaceport to ride their interplanetary ship, resulting in her odd encounters there with Xenochen. They saw each other at every turn; baggage, seating, the Dorado Donuts at the spaceport, even the same row on the spaceship. It didn't matter where Xeno or Umbra went, they constantly ended up in the same place. Coincidence or not, Umbra read this as a sign from the stars that Xeno was destined to be her sworn enemy on Earth. Umbra settled onto the blue planet an she's been haunting Xeno with mischief ever since.

Umbra constantly works towards her dream of ruling the universe with an intergalactic blackout and an army of the dead. So far, she's amassed a small army of the dead, but has a long way to go in terms of magic power. She lives in a small, dark, gothic mansion that she found abandoned in a dense forest and used its graveyard to found her army. She has two animal companions: an overly friendly wolf named Grim and an intelligent vampire bat named Draculance. For her steed, she rides an alicorn of pure night named Vanta.

Umbra is the self proclaimed countess of the dead and takes pride in her reputation as a dark, unholy witch. She occasionally makes plans with other villainous characters, but usually works solo because she prefers when she's in charge. She's infamous for being spiteful and holding intense grudges for no good reason, but her unashamed, unapolagetic love for all things unholy has earned her plenty of admirers.
