The facility's head of maintenance. Gennady's specialty is electrical engineering but he's a bit of a jack-of-all-trades. He spent most of his career before getting to the facility as a freelancer, conning technologically inept customers into paying him inordinate sums of money for very little actual work. Considering it's his job, he gets quite irate about being called in to fix shit.
He is extremely rude and brash, though he claims he's just 'brutally honest'. He has very little patience and will frequently become irritable and cranky when things don't go his way. He often aims to offend people as much as possible. He can be very misogynistic. He's not particularly academically smart, but he's very good at maths and a surprisingly good problem solver, and he can fix pretty much anything - even if he has no clue what it actually is.

- He claims to be an MRA but he only brings it up as an easy gotcha. He doesn't actually give a shit about men's rights.
- He takes very good care of his personal vehicles but his work van is always on the brink of a breakdown and he never really seems to care that much.
- As well as his fighting games, he will often sit for hours playing Dwarf Fortress.
- He used to fix old cars and bikes to resell them, though since he started working at the facility he kinda gave up on it as a side hustle - his job now pays enough that he doesn't need to.
- He does have half a bike on his dining room table that he was originally planning to resell but never actually got around to fixing.
- He is scared of soy products. He thinks they have estrogen in them.
- Considering where he works, he is surprisingly adverse to blood and gore. He's terrified of most of the mutants and avoids them like the plague generally.
- He spends a decent amount of time on incel messageboards and forums despite being adamant that he isn't one; though often the shit his incel friends say manages to make even him uncomfortable.

His work uniform tends to consist of a zip-up shirt and a pair of green overalls tied at the waist. He usually also wears a pair of canvas sneakers and a peaked cap.
Out of work he tends to go for stupid dad shirts with pictures of cars on them that he picks up from charity shops and the like. He usually wears loose sweatpants purely because they're comfortable.
Gennady was raised in a fairly upper-working class household. His parents split when he was fairly young and his birth father wanted nothing to do with his mother or him, so he hasn't had contact with him since. His mother's new boyfriend was always quite cruel to Gennady and liked to pick on him for a variety of things - usually his height and weight, but sometimes he'd do shit like take Gennady's glasses away and hide them or throw his dinner out if he felt like he had eaten enough that day. He would often chastise Gennady for not being masculine enough and would punish him if he cried or did anything his stepfather deemed to be weak or effeminate, which is probably the root cause of a lot of his weird masculinity-related hangups; not that he'd ever admit this, of course.
He did an engineering apprenticeship which took up most of his teenage years. During this time he actually lost a lot of weight and got relatively built thanks to all the heavy lifting he was doing all day, which gained him a lot of praise from his stepfather. He started acting the part of the macho alpha male to try and get more of it, and when he eventually managed to land a girlfriend he treated her horribly until she finally left him after a couple years. He was most definitely too dense to realise that it was his behaviour that was driving women away from him, and his stepfather would consistently affirm that women were just uppity bitches and that Gennady was doing everything correctly.
He was all set to land a cushy job at the company funding his apprenticeship, but at the last minute, in a rather unstable little manic episode, decided he'd rather go freelance and abandoned his original plan. He spent a long time bouncing from place to place attempting to find work and sleeping in his van. His mother and stepfather were upset enough with him for abandoning his career path that they revoked all financial support, so he spent quite a long time homeless until he eventually managed to score an extremely lucrative home renovation contract and got himself a place to live.
Due to his desperation for work while on the streets, he got a bit of a reputation for taking on unscrupulous work, which is how he ended up getting in touch with the facility guys. The wage they offered him was so astronomically large compared to anything he'd been paid before that he agreed without really reading the fine print, and since he's now locked into the facility's strict non-disclosure agreement he can't really leave. The money is definitely good enough for him not to care though.
Kasper is pretty much Gennady's only friend, since nobody else will put up with his bullshit. He often tries to annoy Kasper by being openly and unashamedly misogynistic and accusing his favourite e-girl streamers of being sluts. They do share an interest in motorbikes, and sometimes they play videogames together and shit.
