A wuguai — once a wild creature dwelling within the realm of the celestials, the Ertianjie, who through tremendous effort followed the path to enlightenment and was awakened into soulhood. His final trial was to accompany a badgerfolk individual throughout her life as a bound shadow, a test he passed with flying colors. Indeed, if not for his calm reassurance and clever advice, his mortal companion might have ended up dead at the hands of the demonic heiyao. Instead, having faced them down and lived, he found within himself a wellspring of courage that has served him greatly throughout all his subsequent adventures.
He is quite mischievous, like the rest of his ilk, and is quite diminutive in stature. Dangerous in battle, he dances around his opponents with preternatural grace before dispatching them with his thaumaturgy or a perfectly-aimed thrust from his sacred blade. He is a mere scout among the celestial host, but as he makes his way deep into the twisted domains of the heiyao to reconnoiter he seizes every opportunity that presents itself to wreak havoc and torment his foes.
The mortal peoples fascinate him greatly, although he rarely has the chance to manifest within the physical realm. The descendants of the badgerfolk woman who was once his mortal friend know who he is, and he will sometimes leave them small gifts as a sign of his affection for them.
