𝕄illenia ago, in the deepest depths of Hell, Mundus made for himself a punisher: one who would hunt down those he judged unworthy and slay them without mercy. Thus, Ammit was born. Those who displeased Mundus fell under her blade, and she spent untold centuries as a living warning to those who dared thought to defy the Prince of Darkness. The more blood she spilled, the more powerful she became. She never once knew defeat -- until she crossed blades with the Legendary Dark Knight.

𝔹y order of her master, she gladly challenged him. What followed was a clash that lasted for days, its memory carved into their battlefield atop the Temen-ni-gru. Eventually, Sparda defeated Ammit. He held her life in his hands. Though she expected him to take it, as she had done for every demon she defeated, he spared her. He told her of his awakening to justice, and that he could see a strength in her that could be wielded for a greater purpose. She refused, still loyal to Mundus, but something in her changed that day. With that, Sparda sealed the gate between worlds and left Ammit chained within the tower.

𝔽or the centuries that followed, all she could do was lick her wounds and think on Sparda's words. The doubts he had sown in her mind festered until her loyalty to Mundus wasted away. When the Temen-ni-gru was reopened once more, she broke her chains. She found both of Sparda's sons and challenged them to battle. Weakened from her long imprisonment, she could only fight each of them to a standstill, but it told her all she needed to know. She left Temen-ni-gru behind, content to let events play out as they would. From then, she wandered the face of the Earth, learning the mortals' ways and picking up new, less deadly skills.

𝕊till, her soul was born to punish the wicked. Sparda's justice rang in her memory. Her weapon thirsted for blood, and she gladly fed it -- this time, slaying those, demon or mortal, who would prey on the helpless.
