Sylvester is a notorious hitman (although he prefers the term contract killer) who can often be found bragging about his latest job.
In the world where Sylvester resides, history always repeats itself. Nostalgia controls the planet, governing how the people behave. The planet has made so many trips around the sun that every couple thousand years the clock resets and starts all over, travelling the exact same path, yet certain technological advancements get carried over each time. That being said, base-level construction of Sylvester was completed in 1927 by the young genius Phillip O'Connell. He was a commission by a big company that sought to create butler-like robots to sell to various high-end restaurants and rich folk. The prototype was rejected and so Phillip took the opportunity to further his research in complex AI. He kept Sylvester as a companion, tinkering with his CPU until the code was too spaghetti-ed to safely work on. Because of this unprofessional method of work, many glitches and bugs still remain in his circuits, especially within his emotional mainframe. In fact, when he feels an emotion which is too intense, it trips his systems and he goes into a crude autopilot, visible as a pulsating yellow eye. Years later, a mysterious break-in leaves Sylvester to find Phillip's gored body presumably killed by a knife that came from their own kitchen.Sylvester is assumed to be the killer due to the circumstances of the murder despite himself being the one to make the call to the police.
Grief stricken and on the run, Sylvester abandons Phillip's home. He is quickly scooped up by a don known as Richard some cities away. Richard immediately sees the potential in Sylvester, noting his near-perfect aim (from the floating hands) and easily exploitable autopilot. Richard begins slowly corrupting him, training him to become a feared killer and negotiator, offering him family, shelter, and pocket money in return for his cooperation and loyalty. As time went on, though, Sylvester grew resentful of his circumstances and hungry for more. He began taking unapproved jobs in secret, eventually getting caught and chased out.
That's it! for now.
