“Huh? Ten? So you want me to tell you a bit about myself? ... Fine. I don't know about my origins, but my earliest memories were of growing up in this dumb orphanage where you got me. I was secluded and the other kids would constantly make fun and harass me. I tried reporting the behavior to the caretakers, but all they said was that they’ll “take care of it” and did nothing. I grew to dislike and to not trust others. It’s why my temperament's like this. Others didn’t want to take me in because I lack wings and a tail and due to my attitude. To them, I'm just some weak "human" with claws. They kept saying I have potential, but here in this realm... they’re not willing to wait. But then you came along and took me under your wing, even though they tried to discourage you from choosing me. I cannot thank you enough for that, I hated that place!”

Lorentius is rather cold and cynical due to how others have treated them when they were younger, and others would consider them to be rude. However, Lorentius is respectful in some degree - they'll always address someone by name and doesn't use derogatory names for other races. They are temperamental and will often threaten others, provided that the other party says something demeaning first or something Lorentius strongly disagrees with. Despite this, Lorentius dislikes fighting, preferring to prevent spilling blood. They struggle with seeing things in another individual's perspective and has difficulty making and maintaining good relationships, which is reinforced by the fact that they only have a positive relationship with only one other individual. Lorentius also has a hint of sass to them.

Lorentius is a member of a race that consists of draconic humanoids divided into multiple "classes", which essentially sorts them by potential ability (such as warriors and mages). They're a member of the most elusive and legendary class of their race (Lanthano) - which allows them to transform into a true dragon. A member of such a class does not possess wings nor a tail in their human form, but they only exhibit one small noticeable trait/marking(s) that are typically black in color. In this case, Lorentius's trait is their claws.

Lorentius greatly dislikes the Tarakonae realm because it's structured as a utopian society. They have experienced the harsh truths hidden under the utopian exterior, but they have no chance of even attempting to fix such issues due to the way the council and society works. Lorentius has considered leaving (or even betraying) the realm, however such a task is extremely difficult combined with the fact that they're also part of the council. Lorentius didn't personally choose to be on the council; they're there because Tenakilite, their mentor and adoptive parent, is a part of the council and lives there. Additionally, with their dislike of the Tarakonae realm, they don't seem to care about the wellbeing of other Tarakonae, with the obvious exception of Tenakilite.

Lorentius has a fascination for dragons, fictional and real (in this specific world). Tarakonae don't count as they aren't true dragons.

Lorentius tends to talk to Tenakilite's plants on the council's terrace.

Appearance

Lorentius is lean and on a bit on the small side, with light skin, red eyes, and sharp black claws on their hands. Like all Tarakonae, their canine teeth are slightly larger and sharper compared to a typical human. They sport short fluffy pink hair which sticks up on the front and also sweeps down above their eyebrows. Lorentius doesn't know what would go well with their skin color and hair, so they often wear a modified black double-breasted jacket with gray accents and buttons on the front. Underneath, they wear a simple gray t-shirt along with black jeans/sweatpants and black combat boots. They are rarely seen wearing something else, but it's possible to see them in a black zip hoodie. Lorentius is almost never seen without something on top of their t-shirt, along with anything that exposes their legs. Lorentius dislikes having their arms and legs exposed as their limbs have numerous scars (most are minor) on them from scuffles.

Lorentius typically has a neutral expression or a scowl. They tend to smile when interacting with animals, and sometimes when they're interacting with Tenakilite.

Lorentius's dragon form features red pupiless eyes, two long pink horns that extend from the head, two smaller horns on the top and underside near the end of their snout, large wings, a long tail, and sharp black claws. Their body is mostly black with pink accents and underbelly.

Abilities

Lorentius has sharp black claws on their hands, which they use for self-defense. Their claws are difficult to break and they dislike trimming and filing them down. Despite this, they aren't the most experienced in hand-to-hand combat as they rely on their draconic form for fighting.

Lorentius's humanoid form is weaker and more susceptible to injury compared to the average human. Their dragonic form is far more powerful and can withstand barrages of attacks on the battlefield.

Lorentius has the ability to transform into a powerful dragon via the use of their dragonstone. Their dragonstone is approximately the same size as their hand, is roughly teardrop shaped, pink, translucent, and is basically a large gem. The center of it bears a symbol that resembles the top of their dragon form's head. Lorentius attacks with their dark breath and claws. This form consumes a lot of energy and often leaves them exhausted when they revert back to their humanoid form.

Lorentius can also transform a part of their body, namely their arm(s), into its draconic form by channeling the power in a certain way. However, they're still inexperienced with doing so.

Tarakonae age similarly to the growth rate of humans until they reach 20 years of age. After that, they age extremely slowly, taking up to 15 years to age 1 human year. They have extremely long lifespans as a result. Lanthanoes are estimated to live up to 750 years, compared to 1,000 years for the typical Tarakona. Tarakonae are able to live a long time due to their draconic blood and because of the magical energies within their land. Lanthanoes have reduced lifespans because they require lots of energy while in their dragon form.

Relationships

Tenakilite [ Mentor ]

Tenakilite is Lorentius's mentor and adoptive parent who has taught them what they needed to know, such as utilizing their draconic powers as they are also a fellow Lanthano. They complement what Lorentius is missing as their personalities and behaviors are almost complete opposites. Lorentius was wary when they first met Tenakilite, but quickly warmed up after realizing how supportive and patient the latter was. The two share a very strong bond.

"Ten's technically my adoptive parent, but they personally dislike being called a parent. We stick with 'mentor.'"

"Ten’s been my mentor for quite some time now. I can say we have a good relationship, they understand me and what I’m dealing with... unlike some others.”

“. . . Ten understands what I've been going through. They’re so patient and compassionate... it’s a stark contrast to what I had to deal with back then. They kept persisting and never gave up on me. I’m glad they’re my mentor. I owe them my life.”

"I've never seen Ten angry, just mildly annoyed. I wish I was that patient."

Nodairus [ Enemies ]

Lorentius and Nodairus have had a very bad relationship ever since Tenakilite brought Lorentius in to be a part of the council. They often insult each other and it sometimes turns into serious fights, which Tenakilite breaks up. Lorentius has threatened to kill Nodairus multiple times and has given him a large scar on the left side of his neck.

"Ten said I somewhat resemble Nodairus. I really hope I’m not related to that turd."

"I can’t believe someone as pathetic as you is in such a high position of power." (after first meeting Nodairus)

"That Nodairus… who would ever think… Nevermind."

Tarakonae Council Members of Sector 3 [ Co-workers ]

Lorentius "works" with 6 other individuals who are a part of the council in Sector 3, which is a specific area within the Tarakonae realm. They're the youngest member of Sector 3's council.

"I'm just here because I live with Ten. I haven't bothered to open up to the other members because I hate this realm and because other Tarakonae have treated me like garbage.”

Kyril [ Ally? ]

Kyril eventually becomes Lorentius's ally after being imprisoned for (unwisely) attempting to raid the Tarakonae Council building.

"Surprisingly, she listens.”

Suvaias [ Disliked ]
