Engarde

Biology

Engarde is a Grass/Electric Grookey - Pincurchin hybrid that posseses both species characteristics combined, he has a black body with a long fluffy tail, yellow eyes with black pupils and a yellow mouth.

When he gets pumped up by using his stick to play music, his body starts to build up energy in a manner similar to that of a generator. He can also build up energy with the seaweed that Pincurchin favors using his strong teeth. His spikes are able to conduct said energy and store it. If someone were to take one of his spikes it would keep with it's energy stored for about 3 hours, the only part that does not conduct energy is his yellow mouth. When playing music with his stick the healing area he casts makes him able to heal passively Grass and Electric types alike.

Because of his much more sensitive hearing, he claims to be able to follow people's "Rythm" this Rythm being in fact the beating of their hearts that he follows as a beat.

Engarde has a black body with a long fluffy tail, yellow eyes with black pupils and a yellow mouth. He uses a maroon and white striped bandana over his head with two of his spikes poking out of it. The spikes under his bandana grow pointing backwards. He's slightly taller than most Grookey.

Engarde is a pretty adventurous and brave little kid. Being able to throw himself into dangerous situations without much problem despite everyone around him always stopping him and trying to talk him down from doing so. Because of his curious nature, Engarde tends to like experimenting with the world around him often, resulting in getting him into trouble for being way too careless.

Despite his situation, Engarde doesn't seem particularly interested in knowing who his parents were or why he was left alone on the island. Being way more interested in learning about anything but his own history as he believes the sea itself is his parent, always looking after him from every place it covers and acting as his guardian when navigating it..

Because of his age, Engarde has a pretty wild imagination. Something that makes him often daydream about all the things he could find out there in the vastness of the ocean. At the same time, this makes him a pretty active musician, helping to keep the crew entertained in the longest of travels and making him always have an upbeat attitude, always ready to follow the beat of anyone he meets.

Story

Living around the shore, Engarde has more or less the life of a thief, having being an orphan for most of his life meant that he had to learn how to fend off for himself only living by stealing from the fishermen and the few store owners that are around Concordia's Galleon. His only actual income coming from learning how to play music with his stick and performing alongside other musicians, this group making sure to teach the kid how to properly follow a beat with his stick, allowing him to have an affinity when it comes to making music via percussion. Despite this, he feels like his life has actually been pretty dull and boring.

Longing to have an adventure, he makes his way on a nearby cave that's usually obscured by the many rocks around the shore. Inside it, he finds who he at first believes to be a monster, only to realize it was a very small guy: A pangoro/woobat hybrid that he befriends and later on nicknames Tepo-Tepo, Tepo-Tepo being more akin to a feral creature rather than a more intelligent pokemon. Despite this, Engarde considers Tepo-Tepo his friend, often talking to him as if the latter understands him on a deeper level. With a new friend, the kid heads back and lives for a few months with him to try and teach him how to survive to the best of his abillity. One fateful day, Engarde meets Bryce in a failed attempt to steal from him. With nothing better to do, Bryce picks the kid up and takes him to a local restaurant to talk to him about a certain plan he had.

What Bryce offers Engarde shocks him, as he was asked to form part of his crew that he was starting to build to sail off to the seas and search for a very particular treasure to pay a pretty large debt the garchomp had. Something that the grookey didn't pay much attention to as he was more interested in what kind of adventures he could live alongside Tepo-Tepo, taking Bryce's offer with the only condition being that he gets to take Tepo-Tepo with him and the crew. With not much problem Bryce accepts and gives the kid the Crow's nest position and let's Tepo-Tepo hang around the main deck, officially becoming part of the crew and having the chance to live a better life rather than being stuck on Concordia's Galleon all his life.
