Jan 11, 23. From one of those dreams that like lasts +20 hours and I just have to live with that :v I honestly am not totally sure what race this guy is supposed to be...? I guess it doesn't technically matter, he's from space,, His outfit was sort of... rough fantasy-y? It looked like suede/buckskin for some reason. A lotta suede/buckskin. Most of the royal-y people were wearing it, so it might be high value...?
Paavo is a prince who has enough status to never need to do anything in order to live comfortably ever. That said, he might not directly be related to royalty and there's... honestly a lot of other heirs before him in line. There is essentially no chance he's ever going to be king or even anything close. A perma-prince, if you will. For the most part, he knows this is how it is and doesn't want to be king anyway. The part of the deal that he didn't expect is that he's sort of the designated survivor.... If all of the other heirs magically explode, well... at least we technically have that one guy we keep in the spare closet. This he did not know until quite recently. And it turns out that it's,, kind of an issue....
Setting is in space, but we might be able to breathe it...? The city he lives in is in a like,, space cave. It just stops being space and starts being a cave. A big 'un. Space is still a void, so you need something to traverse it, but it can be a flat plane. A space surfboard, let us say. A "space river" flows through the cave until you reach the city part. There's one of those "docks" in there that's just stairs leading into water. And then it's just normal ground and stuff. The city is hidden by two things I will call planets, but are honestly probably too small...? They sit to the right and left of the entrance. Right is marked with red fire markings, left with blue water. For funsies. Thanks to some sort of mechanism, the people use this as a city gate. When "closed", the planets sit together, covering the cave entrance. Likewise, they can be pulled back to the sides to allow traversal
At a kind of undefined point in the timeline, the fire planet is sabotaged by hostile invaders. This sends it flying off to the left when the people try to use the gate mechanism, thus rendering it only half closeable. This unbalances something, creating a wormhole in the entrance (but it looks kind of like a black hole if you didn't know what one of those actually looked like). This is a fairly significant issue, but at the time, the prince is on a vessel trying to leave on some sort of mission. They're unable to really do anything about this abrupt hole and travel through it, causing it to disappear. Afterwards, the invaders completely and utterly take over 100% of everything in the city. Life sucks. We're all slaves now :(
Paavo (and co) emerge onto a very cold ocean. There's visible land in the distance (green and clearly a continent, not an island), but also there's going to be a blizzard and they're in big trouble!! But thankfully, there just so happens to be a small group of like... yeti mouse furries on a floating burg mining for... something. They're able to help. Then, the prince and his compatriots can realize that they don't know what's going to happen to the city, for they were whisked away. They don't even know if they won or lost! Boo :((
