Profile

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:

Julian stands tall and proud at around 6'. His lean build is belied by an immaculate posture and the bulky layers upon layers of rich fabrics he adorns himself in.

He has a light complexion, with short, well groomed, sandy colored hair. His long, triangular face sports amber colored eyes under thin eyebrows, a dainty and slightly upward pointed nose, thin lips, and too many worry lines to count.

 PERSONALITY:

Julian is an extrovert who's sense of self worth and well being is entirely dependent on how many people enjoy being around him. As such, he's always eager to impress, and strives to please everyone. He places enormous expectations upon himself, and suffers tremendously when he falls short. The agonizing amount of stress he endures at the hand of his own anxiety and neuroticism goes unnoticed by almost everyone.

His natural environments include parties and social gatherings, where he can exercise his uncanny ability to make everyone else feel like most important person in the room. In doing so, people seem to naturally gravitate towards him.

He has a powerful way with words, and is masterful at manipulating the emotions of a crowd. With a well prepared speech, he could unify an entire nation towards a singular cause.

BACK STORY:

Julian grew up with a name that was almost too large to fit into. Throughout his childhood, he lived under the unforgiving scrutiny of his father who, despite attaining no notable achievements of his own, placed impossible expectations upon his only son.

As the young DuPont entered adolescence, it became clear that he had no gift for academia, nor for physically demanding work. Instead, Julian had a knack for employing the talents of others in order to achieve his goals.

His father interpreted this as laziness, and continued to chastise his son's apparent inability to do anything well by hard work alone. Yes, Julian could assemble a team to accomplish incredible feats, but none of those achievements were by his own hand, and so his father brushed them off as 'worthless'.

Though Julian's skill set remained unrecognized by his father, his resourceful leadership skills caught the eye of Theodore Orlin, Pillar of the People. Soon, Julian found himself groomed for Pillarhood, and by the age of thirty-nine, he was officially inaugurated.

In the years to follow, he married to Pillar of the Shield, Mana Wisehart, and the two enjoyed a powerful partnership. He was favored by the people as a man of incredible foresight, and the drive to move long debated plans for the republic into action.

His string of success came to a crashing end when the Pillar of the Path, Arthur Fable perished in a blast that set much of The Citadel's third tower in flames.

Having been greatly endeared friends since childhood, Arthur's death had an immediate and devastating impact on Julian. With most of the navigational crew and documentation lost to the flames, so too would the event impact all of Pontis.

The chaos and disorganization following the blast was exploited by opprotunistic individuals who used the confusion to mask their actions.

Further investigations lead to the arrest of Eitan Bernal, Pillar of the Coin, for treason and embezzlement of government funds.

Following Bernal's arrest, Julian seized control of a military faction lead by the High Captain Gabriel Legard with the support of the court, stating that it was a necessary precaution against the potential of future attacks and to speed up later investigations.

The move was severely criticized by Pillar Wisehart, who argued that Legard and his men were a necessary requirement under her jurisdiction, to maintain a robust military defense in the case of a crisis. Her argument failed to keep Legard under her command.

The maneuver initiated a rift between Mana and Julian, and from that point on, it seemed impossible for the two of them to reach any agreements on pressing issues concerning the republic.

In the past three years, the only thing they have been able to agree on is the name that would replace Eitan Bernal as Pillar of the Coin.

ONGOING STORY:

Though Mana's aggressive disdain towards him is tremendously taxing on his emotional well being, he does an excellent job of masking the symptoms of his heartache. He speaks well of her, perhaps out of spite, but otherwise avoids discussing her at all.

In fact, the bulk of his attention seems to be somewhere else, entirely. The only person who seems to have any idea as to what keeps the restless DuPont in his office during the earliest hours of the morning is the High Captain Legard.
