Bataya

Bataya was a strong-willed and highly influential matriarch of the City of Dezen-Kah in her mortal life. After the death of her mentor, she was chosen to lead and further the worship of the All-Maker and their 15 avatars. After leading with puropse for many years, a rebel group threated the safety of her people and her rule, so she took measurements to nip their influence in the bud. Unfortunatley, this group attracted the attention of her less powerful sister, Elysium, and thus the sibling betrayal began. Elysium eventually attempted to murder Bataya by stabbing her in the chest with a halberd within the monolith Bataya prided herself on creating while the rebel group tore out the supports from underneath them both. Luckily, Bataya had situs inversus and her heart was thus missed by Elysium's attack. As the monolith collapsed, Elysium was crushed and Bataya was later found alive with her eye missing and back leg completely destroyed. Years passed and Bataya married her trusty guard, Judas, and had two children: Elysium after her sister and Lahmu after Judas's grandfather. The rebellion that took her sister and nearly killed her rested silently for years as the couple ruled in faith, only to surface with yet another explosive display. They executed the family in public, claiming their right to rule and leaving Bataya last to witness her family die one by one. It was after being tossed in the river with her throat slit that she was turned to the demon she is today.
