Jorik Norrkvik

PERSONALITY:

Jorik might seem as a scary man on the outside as he's a stoic 2 meters tall quiet man with burly muscles to share, but in truth he's more like a gentle giant. He's calm, fatherly and loyal, and he doesn't make much of a fuss. Unfortunately Jorik isn't very good at social situations and he can be a bit shy. His favorite past-time is cutting wood and drinking beer pints at the local tavern. Jorik doesn't resort to violence with pleasure, but he surely isn't one you should mess with. He's known for his protective personality and even if he himself is ready to take some punches, he will make pudding of anyone who touches his loved ones.

Jorik works as a local blacksmith and crafts both weapons and furniture, and he lives through his work. When he's not found at his forge, he's most likely tending to the local younglings and maybe even knitting some socks for them to wear.

BACKSTORY:

Most of Jorik's lore was created with many other people while roleplaying in written form. I'm forever grateful for all of those who participated in making this character what he became. 
The RPG setting for this character was a rural glacier island that was habited by viking-like tribes of human shapeshifters. Shapeshifters were of different monster species, and Jorik was part of a species who were shapeshifters of cervid creatures.

Jorik was born into the big local village, for a small family of craftsmen. When he was still young, he would follow in the footsteps of his mother to become a blacksmith for the village. Jorik was cherished as the good son of the family, who was strong and capable, a pride to his parents. He had a younger brother, Athael, who was quite different from what the ideal of their family was. While Jorik himself didn't realize or want to, Athael was cast into his shadow. The two brother got some bad blood between each other, neither one really understanding the other one, and Athael decided to leave the village behind, Jorik with it. Maybe because of this, Jorik was feeling guilt over his actions towards his beloved brother. He had always been a brotherly figure to many young ones in the village, so in his adult years he would welcome many young orphans to call his own house their home.

TRIVIA:

• Jorik's name is an old nordic one and it comes from germanic words jó (=horse) and rik (="mighty"). His last name comes from the old norse words nórr (="north") and kvig (="young bull"). This kind of tells of the expectations that Jorik's parents had for their son.
• Jorik has very little experience from relationships and dating due to his bashful nature. He had an arranged marriage, which fell through quite quickly.
• Jorik is a good singer and part of his inspiration comes from Wardruna's songs.
• Jorik's birthday, or when he became my rpg character on the forum, is 8.5.2020
