Micah is an overzealous background-hunter who works for The New Age Theatre. His hubris gets him seriously injured and he is nursed back to health by a Memory Euclidean known as Steven. (Or Steve, for short.) The two become buddies.

Background

Micah is a biological euclidean monsterhunter. His parents really didn't want him to become a monsterhunter, fearing the danger, but Micah went and became one anyway.

Micah is with The New Age Theatre and so mostly hunts in Layer 3. Micah is reasonably respected, scoring 10 points on the Dad_Cetemol ranking system. He doesn't use a weapon, instead choosing a method of "punch/wrastle the monster 'til it dies!'

While Micah was generally seen by his peers as being overconfident to the point of cockiness, Micah had one bone to pick with himself: His fear of water. To remedy this, one day, Micah decided "right then! Pirate adventure time!" And took a trip into Layer 5: Tativeraw to go and fight a sea monster to overcome his fear.

He managed to track one down, a particuarly large squid-like monster. The squid managed to blind Micah, slashing him across the face and giving him a wicked cool scar. Micah would have drowned had it not been for a kindly stranger known as Steve spotting him.

So anyway, Steve shot the squid with a shotgun a few times and tried to chainsaw it to bits, but the squid fled. Steve managed to just about drag a Semi-Unconconscious Micah to safety. One dragged onto the beach, Steve picked up Micah properly and took him back to the safety of his home to nurse him back to health properly. (Micah fell asleep in his arms.)

Micah woke up in the comfort of Steve's home with a cold towel over his nose and eyes and a warm blanket over his shoulders. Micah took the towel off, and realised he still couldn't see all that much. Micah eventually put two-and-two together and realised the attack had blinded him.

Steve came back in with some Hot Chocolate upon realising Micah was awake, and Micah confides to him that his career is probably over due to his disability. ("You ever seen any blind monsterhunters? Being able to- Oh, I don't know- Actually see the monster..? Huge part of the job!") Steve comforts him, and asks Micah if he'd like to change the conversation topic. Micah agrees, since it might take his mind off his redundancy.

The two discuss their pasts together, tell each other stories- Perhaps even becoming friends.

Micah tries to stand up and leave, but stumbles. Seems the squid broke his leg. Oops!

The journey back to Layer 3 is somewhat long- And making it on a broken leg is worse. Steve gives Micah the option to stay with him until his leg is healed, but Micah is like "hell no, I'm not letting you waste your resources on me. I'm a wee bit useless, actually." Steve rolls his eyes and is like "okay, try and leave then, best of luck!"

Micah stumbles himself in the complete wrong direction on a broken leg and ultimately gives up. He's too tired to try and hobble back the way he came, so he just lays in the dirt and resigns to his fate. Lucky for him, Steve had 0 faith in him actually making it back home, so Steve followed him and prepared for Micah to give up. He makes himself known to Micah again and Micah agrees to stay with him.

Steve lets Micah stay for as long as he needs. Sometimes Micah gets sad and feels like a burden, so Steve remedies this by giving Micah simple chores to do around the house every so often. Micah also had trouble navigating and kept tripping over things, so Steve gave him an umbrella to hold in front of him like a cane so Micah could sense if he was about to walk into a table. Although Micah has never seen Steve (and never will), he really enjoys Steve's company and thinks Steve's voice is nice.

Eventually, Micah's leg heals and he decides it's time to go home. He gives Steve his umbrella back- Not wanting to steal it- And sets off back on the journey to Layer 3. Steve offers to walk him back, and Micah's like "sure, okay." The two travel back together, and arrive back at Layer 3 at night. Micah's family, fearing Micah had died, give him a Big Hug! They thank Steve for rescuing him and looking after him all this time, and offer to let him stay the night. Micah's family, upo realising Micah was blinded, is like "haha, so no more monsterhunting then, right son? =)"

Micah has decided to say fuck it, and continue being a monsterhunter anyway. Unlike Steve who uses a gun, and thus, needs to be able to see to aim- Micah's fighting style is very hands on. Either before going blind, his fighting style was very "run up to the monster, grapple on, punch until it dies." Once the monster is located, Micah can dash up to it and kill it from there. Because of this, relearning to hunt with his new disability is much less daunting than he thought it'd be when he was stressing over it a month ago.

Steve goes back home to his rural village in Layer 5. Him and Micah send letters back and forth. Micah continues working for the New Age Theatre, and keeps reccomending Steve to join too because Steve, despite being an entirely self-taught hobbyist, was surprisingly capable when he saved Micah from that giant squid. Steve is secretly planning to surprise Micah by joining, but is always like "aha, noo, I love my village too much I could never haha!" in his letters.

Eventually Steve does join though. Micah hugs him. Yay!
