edit: I looked up what pog and unus annus means! This was actually inspired by the old traditional Catholic tradition. I was inspired by how Catholic monks would have a skull on their desk or little decorative skulls around to remind themselves that they will die and that their life here will result in death one day and thus your eyes should always be fixed on the eternal and how to get yourself to heaven because that is the ultimate goal.
