Profile

Aestian comes from a very long line of rangers/hunters, and was supposed to follow in the same footsteps. In fact, he had started the preliminary training before Silvermoon and the Sunwell had been destroyed by Arthas and his army of Scourge. During the attack, however, he was separated from his family (his mother, two sisters, and his brother), and even after the attack was detained from being able to rejoin them. He had been trapped in a fallen structure (in the now aptly named Ghostlands), and it was days before help found him and assisted him in digging out of the fallen building. In this time, his family had waited for him, but when he didn't show up in the first few days they had no choice but to assume he had died when they had been separated (he was the eldest out of his siblings). At a loss of what to do, they had to choose whether to stay longer and hope, or move on. Despite their hope that he may have survived, they ended up doubting that was possible, and left Quel'thalas, as they didn't agree with Kael'thas' ambitions.

Some days later, Aestian returned to the half destroyed Silvermoon, and realized that his family was nowhere to be found. He searched for them, asked after them, and otherwise searched in vain. There was little information to be gathered about them, and at the most, a few said they had seen them a few days earlier, but that it was before the attack. At a loss, he was forced to assume they died during the attack (because he couldn't imagine them actually leaving Quel'thalas). He was distraught about this, but quickly moved on to start training again. However, he no longer felt the calling to be a ranger, and sought out a different path of training. It was during this time, that he felt the calling to become a Paladin, though at the time, the Paladins as well as the Priests of Silvermoon were struggling with their 'faith' in the Light, feeling that it had failed them when they needed it the most. Regardless, he started his basic training with the Blood Knights to become a Retribution Paladin.

Years later, he started his questing (around the begining of Wrath of the Lich King, roughly) having finished his most basic training and feeling the need to actually go out and do something. He moved through it quite easily, and eventually ran into Nejasi, whom he helped when the younger Paladin ran into a Sentinel in Ashenvale. Eventually a relationship budded between them, though they were both still busy with their own things.

When the Cataclysm happened, a number of things changed for Aestian. His once pleasant attitude, while still intact, was somewhat overshadowed by a new sense of frustration and displeasure. Though, what exactly caused him to become quite so jaded is unknown. He also recieved new scars, most notably, his right ear was lopped off half way, and he was incredibly displeased about that in particular. He went to so far as to get his ears pierced, and eventually also got a tattoo, which looks exactly like the Blood Elf phoenix crest. During this time he met a Hunter named Ashe, while away from Nejasi, and something came up between them. Perhaps overly infatuated, Aestian agreed with the sentiment that he should break things off with Nejasi, so that he and Ashe could start a relationship. Aestian did so, though it actually pained him to, and joined his new Hunter lover on some of his adventures. However, things went south for himself and Ashe fairly quickly, and he was left to come to terms with what he'd done and what he actually wanted. Some months after begining the relationship with Ashe, he broke it off, and moved on.

Aestian was then at a loss of what to do. He wanted Nejasi back, but also wouldn't assume that he hadn't found someone else. He spent a few months just adventuring, and otherwise feeling rather lonely, but tried to push forward from it. After a while, despite his efforts to focus on his quest to help take out Deathwing, he realized that he at least needed to visit Nejasi, and if at all possible find out if they could return to the relationship they once had. He searched him out, and some time later, he did happen upon Nejasi. And, in the process, Ahyre as well, realizing that the two were in a relationship together. While Aestian was happy that Nejasi hadn't waited around for him or something equally ridiculous, he was also a little saddened that they seemingly wouldn't be able to pick up where they left off. He hemmed and hawed about it for a short period of time, before eventually deciding to offer to 'intrude' on Nejasi and Ahyre's relationship. Something the two of them immediately accepted.

Since Pandaria, Aestian has become more like his former self, somewhat less 'grumpy' and more pleasant and lighthearted. While he frequently still looks fairly discontent, he's more inclined to offer a smile if pressed, rather than a disgruntled frown.

The most recent attack by the Burning Legion has presented some changes, of course. He finds himself highly intrigued by the Nightborne as well as the Night Fallen, though he sees in them all the follies of Elven kind. Especially those of the Blood Elves, and the being separated from the Nightwell, not unlike the separation of the Blood Elves from the Sunwell. As such, he goes out of his way to help the Nightfallen and the Withered as much as he can. And feels some amount of disdain for how some of the Nightborne treat their own people.

Relationships wise, things have changed once more, as Nejasi has taken a liking to the Demon Hunter, Synaleus. Despite, perhaps, his better judgment, Aestian has as well, and they all decided to include him in their figurative 'circle' of love.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aestian is adept at being a Retribution Paladin, and is also somewhat decent at taking up the mantle of a Protection Paladin as well. Much of his fighting is brute force, vs relying over much on his spells, though he can use them with no issues. This being said, he is particularly weak when it comes to outright Holy healing spells. He's never been able to viably take up the mantle of a Holy Paladin, and in general, his healing is fairly insufficient. Where an adept healer would be able to heal their wounds with little or no scarring, at best his close the wound, but do not heal it properly. He has sufficient strength to use the spells, but not effectively. And things like resurrection spells drain him to the point that he needs to rest for quite a while afterwards. Sometimes they even make him dizzy or nauseous.

Because of his family's lineage, and his training before the attack on Silvermoon, Aestian is actually rather good at many things that rangers/hunters are as well. In particular, he has an impeccable sense of direction, and rarely gets lost. He is also rather good at both tracking creatures, be they animals, Dragonkin, or Demons, as well as other humaniods. And, otherwise, he is good at surviving in the wild, when he has very little to take care of himself. He uses these abilities, frequently, not only to help himself but also to help others he runs into as he travels. This has led to some, rather strangely in his opinion, feel indebted to him, or insist they pay him back for the help. Aestian doesn't generally ask for anything in return, and usually is a bit surprised with the kinds of things that people offer him in return for his help.
