I believe in doing what is right.

He had always prided himself on his dicipline, his rigor. The go-getter attitude that got things done and impressed his superiors. "Keep that up, kid, and you will go far".

His first mistake was coming to know his comrades, coming to love them. Coming to care for them as if they were his family. And as he stared at the ruins before him, a building blown to ash, he couldn't feel anything other than numb. Was this what was meant to happen? Had some greater power destined this twist in his chest, the pain in his heart? Or was it just... rotten luck?

As he stood there, looking at the remains of his future, he also looked inwards. Weighed the decisions, the price of his sins and found himself lacking. There was much to do.

What is right is not always the law.

Personality

-Go Getter, a bit of a yes-man. Will normally go above and beyond the call of duty to see a task through, then ask for more

-Prepared, always ready at a moments notice. Normally a bit over-prepared, depending on who you ask.

-Determined, will stick with things long after others might have.

-Rebellious?, who knows, maybe that little spark of rebellion in him might grow…. Maybe.

History

Evander had an exceptionally normal childhood, if you ignore the part about hating mages.

Really, it was just a part of everyday life. Do your chores, eat your dinner, and oh don’t forget to hate those who played with magic.

He had a sweet and caring mother, and a strict but fair father. He had younger siblings who looked up to him as their big brother, and could come to him for anything, any time.

They had a small cottage in a small village without a name (not a single mage of course) and stayed well out of the way of trouble.

That was until the first time Evander broke a rule. Don’t talk to outsiders was the biggest one, but when a group of Witchfinders came to town (passing through mind you, there were no mages) he was fascinated. Their stories of the world, of finding witches who would do evil deeds, it was too much for the youngster to handle.

And as he grew, his resolve became clear. He would join them, once he was of age.

So he did, and his parents were not happy to see him go. But they respected their son well enough, and without much of a fuss he went.

The world was a lot bigger than the country kid had imagined, but over time he rose through the ranks, becoming fairly well known for a Witchfinder. He learned of the world and all it had, and he kept going.

That was, until one of his own betrayed him. Until one of his own, one of his fiercest, turned her back to save a Witch.

Now, everything was about to change.
