Post war Cybertron.

Sunthought was born on post-war Cybertron in Vos. When activated, Starscream named him Yolk, for his bright coloration and blue optics. 

The first time his ability manifested was in the sparkarium, when he was attacked by a larger spark. Then the offender simply lost interest in him and left him alone. Subsequently, this ability saved him in moments of danger, when someone attacked him, the special radiation of the Sunthought's spark stunned the enemy and acted as a sedative injection. He kept his ability a secret from others and made little progress in its study and working principles.

He takes his current name from Predaking, who witnessed his self-sacrificing bravery when Sunthought attempted to shield the wheel spark that had drawn Starscream's wrath.

For a long time, Vos was cut off from Iacon, the center of the resurgent Cybertron. There were not enough resources to guard and clean up the ruins left from the city, and the energon mines were constantly attacked by the new fauna of Cybertron. It was necessary to establish a permanent communication with the Autobots. Starscream wanted the Vehicons back to protect the city and the mines. He took Sunthought to negotiations with the Autobots in order to pity them with a sweet and harmless youngling. The ploy worked, a permanent groundbridge was installed between the cities, some of the Vehicons were sent to rebuild Vos. Sunthought asked Starscream for permission to stay in Iacon to study as a medic. Starscream, being in a good mood, and he himself was well aware that Vos needed doctors, so he granted the mechling's request.

After study under Ratchet, Sunthought returned to Vos to open his practice there. His clinic is always full of patients, as the builders and mechs from the purge teams are constantly getting hurt. Usually, after a particularly hard work cycle, he likes to fly to his secret place, found by chance. Oil springs are a real treasure for tired mech. During one of those breaks, two wounded insecticons came across his springs, apparently having fought off a swarm recently destroyed by a sweeping group. At that time, another interesting feature of his ability was revealed. Attacked and stunned by the radiation of the mech's spark, the insecticons mistook Sunthought for their new queen, who must be protected. Since then, Sans has been hiding two insecticons in his place, reasonably fearing that such a source of threat in the city will simply be destroyed.
