There is a myriad of Hantukas out there in the forest all in the same cult. Some were born into the cult. Some willingly gave up their humanity to join it. Some were on the brink of death, their only choice being to become a follower. No two Hantukas are the same. They are all different, but with the same goal, breaking the cycle of life and death, all becoming gods over all other beings, achieving eternal existence.
Unless being born into the cult, they were all once human. But being powerless beings, they agree to give up their humanity to turn into these strange creatures called Hantuka. They reside in forests, having a fluffy animal-like body to keep them comfortable.
Hantuka all have a special ability, which is to see and hear the dead. All spirits and ghosts, they are all visible to them. Their charm seems to lure them in. They don't really like the dead though all they do is beg the Hantuka for life again. Hantuka can also achieve other supernatural powers, but this is for another day.
