Occupation
Black Market trader

Ax'ol is an infamous trader on the black market of a wide variety of goods due to their excellent connections. As a Tystian, understanding the behavior of others comes naturally - it isn't quite empathy but it is something that they can detect through their antennae. Ax'ol is self-involved and self-serving, but they can be occasionally helpful to the Lanterns, having witty and flirtatious banter with Sierra. They are a valued informant of the BL but their lack of desire to benefit the greater good makes the relationship a tentative one.

Personality

Ax'ol turns the 'silver tongued' idea around with his golden tongue, able to get whatever he wants with his clever words. His sense of self-preservation is as powerful as his ability to get out of any bad situation. He steers away from physical fights, preferring verbal lashings if he can't escape without conflict. He's a bit prideful about his appearance, as it has been ruled illegal by his people, the Tystians, and spends a lot of time keeping it up. He is well known and easy to identify from even a mile away, if not from his appearance then because of his confident disposition.

He tends to always be in control of the situation; when he isn't, he finds a way to get the upperhand. He betrays people when it benefits him, so most of his 'friends' are just business partners that keep him at arm's length. Ax'ol is extremely intelligent, having studied foreign economies back on his home planet, allowing him to stack up riches through his trading expertise. He spends most of his money on frivolous luxuries and doing whatever he can to have fun.

Details

When it comes to drawing Ax'ol, there are a lot of details. Most important are the eyes, black sclera and gold irises. The first reference in the gallery, the fullbody, is the most accurate as it is the original reference. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Getting the jewelry/clothes correct isn't as important as the body traits/anatomy. Thank you!

Species Information

[ Tystians ] Tystians are a bald species, so Ax'ol has used alien gels to grow hair. Tystians are a deeply traditional species but Ax'ol has defied their customs by getting hair, tattoos, and body modifications. He is also viewed as a disgrace/traitor because he associates with other species outside Tystians, doesn't perform any rituals/ceremonies, and acts with impropriety. His tattoos/body markings are a modification, his irises were modified to be gold (Tystians all have black sclera and white irises), and his tongue being forked is a mod. These all set him apart from his species and tend to confuse outsiders, making him hard to identify as a Tystian at all.

Please note: 'Tystian' is an invented species for my personal world within the DC universe; it isn't a closed species or anything of genuine substance. I purchased his design as a custom adoptable, but please talk to me if you wanna make a similar character (I would LOVE to have writing/HC buddies for DC or this alien species in general).

Trivia

  • Ax'ol's reputation precedes them. Rumors have spread about them having ties into every type of market in the black market, but it isn't true. Ax'ol has never participated in the slave labor network, or any form of living being transfer - not even flora.
  • Due to their past (as a kidnapped Tystian), Ax'ol has a personal grudge against those that trade living beings for anything. They also don't care for bounty hunters, who value life below a new paycheck.
  • Ax'ol is extremely flirty, but rarely lets anyone get close enough to actually take to bed. They flirt indiscriminately across genders, sexes, and species.
  • Ax'ol doesn't like to mess with magic items of any sort, but is strangely attracted to lucky charms and totems.
  • They hold a complex relationship with religious items, feeling homesick about the ceremonies and rituals of the Tystians. It's bittersweet for them to have items of lore that pertain to deities, unsure if it's a great reward to possess - even for a short time - an item that others worship, or if it is some sick divine punishment to teach them that nothing they valued in their early life holds value.
