tam

backstory

tam, born in vietnam in 1951 before the vietnam war, was the daughter of two fishers. he grew up an only child, and he was decently treated by his parents until the miscarriage of his younger brother. tam's parents then turned on him, blaming him with the belief that he stole the place of his brother in life. 

at age 19, tam ran away into the forest. there, he was turned by a vampiric wanderer who lured him with the promise of shelter. in a rage, he killed him and cried for days. after such an emotional and violent series of events, tam entered a trance in which he slept for months and months. in his sleep, the forest he resided in was bathed in toxins as a battle tactic from the war. tam's undead body saved him from death, but it instead absorbed the toxins within his core. a dark mist emitted from his body as a byproduct from coping with the poison. his abdomen became blackened with oozing blood and burned flesh. waking up, tam was horrified of his new form. 

in the present day, he has learned to tolerate the pain of his body. he does errands in the city and travels worldly for the sake of keeping himself busy and avoiding detection. for food, he tends to feed off animals, seafood being a favorite.

personality

silent, reserved, skittish. as a result of his upbringing, tam is inclined to not speak unless spoken to and obey those he believes to be of higher authority, whether it be from the recipient's actual status or his own perception. he finds himself overwhelmed easily in social situations and needs conversations to go slowly for him to be comfortable. he's rather indifferent to being a vampire, he thinks the troubles that come with his condition are a little of both the inevitable struggles of life and the "rightful" punishment for his early life.

abilities

• near-immortality. ages physically in an extremely slow pace. resistant to most diseases. 
• highly developed vision and smell. extremely pungent things, including a dish made by a garlic enthusiast, are painful, but not lethal. eyes are sensitive to light.
• lowered body temperature. often needs to bask in warmth to get through the day's activities. his stomach is especially cold.
• more strength and stamina than the average human athlete. the strongest humans can still give a fight.
• emits a heavy, black mist. can dissipate it or increase the amount at will, through repressing it exhausts tam. the mist is odorless and nontoxic.

• always has wrinkle in between brows from always furrowing them, visible even when relaxed.
• retractable top and bottom fangs.
• naturally black, shiny nails. really edgy.
• drives a motorcycle. struggles at driving cars. 
• he does wear other outfits. his style is loose, casual clothing.
• his favorite candy is tamarind candy.
• he befriended a tiger back in vietnam when he was coping with being turned and his body. he named her stripes.
