FEATURES & TRAITS

Darkvision - You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Fey Ancestry - You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.

Trance - Deep meditation for 4 hours is as restful as sleeping for 8 hours.

One of the Common Folk - As one of the mere common folk, you find more sympathy among your kind. You can find a place to hide, rest, or recuperate among other commoners, unless you have shown yourself to be a danger to them. They will shield you from the law or anyone else searching for you, though they will not risk their lives for you.

Simple Fok; Simple Means - There isn’t much you do as a lowly peasant, but you’re good at what you can do. Choose either two skills to double your proficiency in (expertise), or one artisan’s tool kit. At 7th and 14th level, you made choose one additional skill or artisan’s tool.

In The Background - People have a tendency to ignore you. You can utilise this to slip into crowds or hide in plain sight. Also, people are less likely to suspect you or question your movements.

I tend to look on the bright side and never turn down a chance for some lighthearted fun. 


IDEALS

I don't want to continue this menial job for my whole life, but work is work. I just want to have some fun while I'm doing it. 


BONDS

While working, I came across a long forgotten letter whose intended recipient is no longer at the written address. I carry it with me in hopes of delivering it safely. 


FLAWS

All of my knowledge of the world outside of the Underdark comes from the above-ground portions of the UPPS and the letters I read. I am a notorious snoop, so private letters aren't private to me. 


BACKSTORY


Nonbinary, Demi-Girl | They/Them or She/Her | Not Straight | 120 years | 5'11" | 170 lbs

Shyntra spent their childhood in the Underdark, living just below the surface with their parents. Their father worked at a UPPS office on the surface and their mother was part of the maintenance team that maintained the intricate system of tubes, so they were exposed to postal work before they could even talk. The near-surface provided an endless playground. Shyntra is nimble from ducking and weaving through the tunnels that house the mail tubes and learned the mechanics of them from their mother. Their employment began young as an apprenticeship with their parents' coworkers.

When it was time for them to begin work on their own, Shyntra transfered to a different branch of the UPPS in hopes that they would find the adventure they were hoping for. Instead they found much of the same. They see little of the surface and spend most of their time sorting through mail capsules to transfer them to the correct tube. In a bid to assuage their boredom, they browse over the mail they recieve for any interesting information.

During their free time, Shyntra took to carving little pieces of wood they found during their rare trips to the surface. A worker they are friendly with in the local office brings them pieces from the surface when they can as well, which gives them plenty of opportunity to experiment. They put these figurines, which are mostly of drow, flora, or fauna, into random mail capsules during sorting. Why? Amusement. Imagining the confusion the carvings will bring provides them with a small thrill.

Someday Shyntra plans to leave the Underdark and explore the world above. They read about it in letters every day, but have only seen the area immediately surrounding their post office or the one their father worked at, and even then it is a rare treat. Yes, they will venture out eventually, they simply need the right push
