HIEN

melodramatic and wayward, hien is surprisingly open, albeit in the way an untreated wound is: blatant and oozing. despite his submissive demeanour and compulsion to belong, he makes for a poor sycophant and places a rather paradoxical value on his own authenticity. whether through genuine glee or profound sullenness, hien’s feelings play a presidential role in how he makes sense of his surroundings and, as resigned as he may be, is certainly not afraid of showing it.

hien clings fiercely onto his ideals and fantasies and does not let go. while he readily conforms, he seldom commits to full-fledged acceptance. he’s not stubborn or rebellious by any means, but he is more obstinate than most give him credit for—than what was deemed acceptable—especially in the face of emotionally-charged matters.

having learned very little in life, hien is heavily reliant on his instincts. fortunately, these rudimentary urges have been rather merciful guides, giving the false impression that he is an individual blessed by none other than lady luck. ironically, he'd claim the exact opposite; with a sorely fragmented identity and an eerie disconnect from actuality, this is merely further proof that his mentality is largely reminiscent of an adolescent's.

capricious and juvenile, his sense of self is half-baked at best. hien seeks out the company of others not because he inherently enjoys it (he errs on the introverted side if anything), but due to the belief that they simply know better. oftentimes, hien finds himself struggling with his place in the world—or lack thereof.
