Neglected as a child, and spent much of his free time fiddling with  technology in his room or sneaking out in the late hours of the night.

At age fifteen, he joined a gang. He was not well-liked at first, but he  made a name for himself. The leader grew attached, treating him as his  brother, and promoting him to second in command. His leader taught him  to shoot, drank with him on late nights. They were close friends.

At age twenty, his house burned down. His parents perished in the fire.  In the collapse of the building, as Kanaye struggled to escape, a  ceiling beam fell, knocking him out. He woke up with no memory of the  past five years. He had forgotten all of his crimes.

He was adopted out of a hospital by a kindly old rich couple, and after  recuperating from a year, they insisted he enroll in a hero academy.  Thinking that he might be able to help others as the couple had aided  him, he agreed.

On a mission for one of his classes, Kanaye ran into someone he  recognised. Shocked by the nostalgic feeling, and as the criminal had  recognised him, he hid and spoke with them. These secret meetings  continued for some time, until he was caught. At the threat of arrest  for aiding criminals, Kanaye fled the academy and rejoined the gang in  secret.

Now, he once again aids them in their crime using his hacking and long-range shooting prowess.

He can be rather snarky, and often frowns. However, he finds himself  smiling among his friends. His mask is emotive, and the eyes change to  match what he's feeling like text emoticons. (i.e. ^ ^ for happy, or V V  for sad, or o o for shock)

He isn't afraid to get his hands dirty, and killing is nothing new to  him. The Tora Crew works to steal money and food and aid its  impoverished members with their gains, and that's something he can  support. It's why he chose their gang when he was fifteen.

After a long time of struggle, pain, loneliness, and distrust, he  finally found somewhere he truly belongs amongst the Tora Crew - his  gang - and like his brother had told him four years prior, they were  going to climb to the top together.

He carries lockpicks on his person - seen on his belt. The canister on  his left hip contains a net bomb. He has multiple of these. His rifle is  a laser rifle. He also carries a taser in his inside coat breast  pocket.
