Profile
Born in Vermont and raised in New York, Suzie was the drummer and main songwriter of the all-female American rock band The Chickadees. The band was active from 1965 to 1973. The Chickadees was not the start of Suzie’s interest in music, She started drumming in the early 1960s and also has an interest in multiple other instruments. Suzie mostly stayed in the shadows with The Chickadees, not really enjoying performing and interviews. She lived a quiet, private life. After The Chickadees split in 1973 she formed her own band and started new. Her band was somewhat successful and she continued playing with them until her diagnosis of thyroid cancer in 2006. She battled cancer until succumbing to it in 2009.
Suzie had a reserved, logical and perfectionist personality. She would say stuff as it is to make sure the job gets done right. She was very serious about her work with The Chickadees and at times would get a little controlling with their image as a band, which Louise didnt like. She was very well mannered and humble in public appearances, she didnt let fame get to her, she lived a very regular peaceful life outside of making music.
She was a very creative writer and she was always writing ideas, carrying around notepads and pens everywhere she went. At her worst, she could be critical of others and herself, aloof and would often isolate herself.
