ingame reference
moon thief variation (ignore the dye notes)

Charismatic and quick-handed, but as his name suggests, trustworthy. Unless you're on the enemy side of things, naturally. Anoor refuses to step off until he's done all he can and won't hesitate to throw himself ahead of you into a battle. Incredibly stubborn, he usually always gets his way whether you like it or not. He had a rough upbringing full of gang disputes and, as the full saying goes, blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb. Loyal, clever, a fast thinker and good company for a laugh.
He recently went on quite a spiritual rollercoaster with the return and subsequent death of Balthazar, as well as the departure of Kormir leaving the human quite literally emptied on things to believe. Anoor has been deeply religious all his life and this shook him, but it seems he's found a crutch in Velouree, for better or for worse. Anoor is, on one side, a helpful and kind soul. but a distinct lack of emotional attachment shows up ever so often. Anoor has a remarkably easy time moving on from deaths.

⋅•⋅✦∙∘ STORY ∘∙✦⋅•⋅

╰━  ━━━━  ━╯

▲ CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR PRETTY MUCH THE ENTIRE GW2 STORYLINE

Born to a pair of Elonian refugees in the slums of Divinity's Reach, Anoor had a street rat lifestyle for most of his time on Tyria. Both his parents were poor, barely able to afford a loaf of bread. In winter they always huddled together so as not to freeze to death. But Anoor was left all alone around the age of 8, when his parents were caught by the Seraph stealing and were jailed. He never saw them since.

Next followed a life of gang activity and crime. There was nowhere else for the orphan to go, so he resorted to one of Divinity's many gangs. They took him well. Anoor was quick, good at combat and came up with reasonable working strategies. There was no doubt he'd gained Balthazar's favor in some way. At least that's what his gang mates said. At around 15, Anoor and his people got into a war over territory with a neighboring gang. The boy's right side of his face, mainly the eye was scorched by an elementalist's blaze and left a nasty scar that would never heal. It's a miracle Anoor could still see.

Anoor had soon found out about the Order of Whispers. He felt like he was very young to join, but at the same time it seemed to be his only option. The covert order of spies and assassins felt like home and Anoor quickly became a beloved, efficient memeber of the Order. There was now a roof over his head - at least for as long as he liked and a cause to help the world. The pharmacy heist and plot to poison all of Divinity's Reach were dissolved by him along with the help of some old gangmates and the Seraph, ironically enough. After that, a conquest against the dragons started.

Anoor worked tirelessly alongside other agents of the Order, quickly becoming a Lightbringer. He was sent out all over Tyria - to the Maguuma Jungle, the Shiverpeaks, Ascalon, you name it and he's been there. The swarthy man was also praised for his ability to track people down - something that always proved exceptionally useful.
A person inside the Whispers had eventually caught the man's eye. It was a noble from Divnity's Reach - initally from Ebonhawke, apparently - that had come in as an initiate. A mesmer. socialite, illusionist. A fine addition if put to the right use. But oh, so cold. So, so cold. If there was a king to the Ice Queen this would've been him. Anoor didn't relent in his quest to get to know the mesmer known as Velouree, though.

Their relationship was terribly cold at first and during Scarlet's campaign around Tyria, they barely interacted. The only times they met were short, snarky exchanges of words and salty glares thrown across the Chantry of Secrets. During Heart of Thorns, this relationship had died entirely. Anoor had been loaded up with work from the preceptors, but he somehow managed to still keep an eye on Velouree. Why, he wasn't sure.
Once the bloodstone exploded, something between the two had clicked. Vel had retreated to his home in Divinity's Reach, plagued by some sort of magical disease for lack of a better word. He was reported as going to both the Durmand Priory and the Consortium to fix this. The Consortium! Imagine. Anoor rarely came by the noble's house, but saw him run to the hospital in Salma district clutching his hand. Whatever afflicted Velouree must've been bad.

They didn't speak much until Velouree suddenly disappeared, shortly after the Eye of Janthir delivered a prophecy on where the fallen god Balthzar had gone. Speaking of Balthazar, Anoor couldn't believe it. A god, on Tyria? Balthazar nonetheless! The deity the Whispers agent had enjoyed blessings from all his life. But the god was different now. Malevolent, in a way. Anoor held hope, though.

As the airship approaches the Crystal Desert, Forged are attacking civilians inside of a pyramid. Anoor is less than pleased. The homeland of his parents - razed by a god he once worshipped. Amnoon was in shambles. The Forged and the Zaishen ganging up on Kormir's clergy wasn't a pleasant sight. During the encounter with Balthzar while searching for Vlast, Anoor spit in his deity's face, figuratively speaking. He didn't need a god that killed the innocent. He didn't need a god that razed the world and brought it to further destruction.

But Anoor's faith wouldn't be held for long. Just as he was picking up prayers for Kormir, the goddess of truth left. She was the last god of the Six staying behind on Tyria, but now she was gone too. Anoor was at a loss. The deities couldn't hear him now. Balthazar absolutely wouldn't. It was an exceptionally difficult thing to cope with as religion had always been a part of Anoor's life from the moment his parents had raised him.

Momentarily, he'd found faith in the people of Elona. Rallying them against Palawa Joko and Balthazar's troops, as well as the Branded, helping followers of Ascension and meeting the Order of Shadows put some kind of hope in Anoor. He could still help this place - the people he shared blood with. Earlier, Anoor had acknowledged and confessed his feelings to Velouree - but the mesmer turned him down. That was alright. Anoor had felt the heartache, but accepted it. You couldn't force a person like you, after all.

While Velouree was out there confronting Balthazar and rescuind Aurene, Anoor was still moving around the Crystal Desert offering his help to refugees, taking them across the sands to safe havens like Amnoon and cavalier waystaitons. In fact, he practically almost skipped Balthazar's defeat.
Following that, Velouree disappeared. Anoor didn't bother looking for him as he considered their relationship sorted out (with the rejection and all), but got a lovely surprise when visiting the garden of Seborhin.

Velouree had settled down there for a couple months after Balthazar's demise. Anoor happened to be coming by on some sort of business and suddenly had a noble chasing after him that turned out to be the mesmer in disguise. He explained to Anoor that he was sorry for turning him down and that now he'd gotten his feelings in order. You couldn't really tell, but Anoor was pretty happy about that. They traveled back to Amnoon together and stayed there until it was time to venture out again.

Following the Rata Primus incident, Velouree came down with a bad magic-induced fever and hallucinations. Anoor resolved to keep him inside so he could rest up, while taking care of all that Velouree would otherwise do on his own. This brought about a lot of worry for Anoor, even if Vel was assuring him he was feeling alright. Fever dreams were frequent on the mesmer's side and the thief even resolved to keep a diary of everything that was happening. Just in case.

Recently, Vel figured out that perhaps using magic instead of storing it would work better. And it did indeed help. They're out adventuring again, this time together and working more as a team than anything. Though, Anoor still has to hold Vel back most of the time as he famously has no self-preservation, or so the thief says.

⋅•⋅✦∙∘ COMBAT ∘∙✦⋅•⋅

╰━  ━━━━  ━╯

Anoor, like any proper spy, usually avoids combat. But if he's forced into it, fights usually end very quickly. Armed with a bladed staff, rifle and a galore of hidden knives allows him to dispatch foes in the blink of an eye. A point-blank headshot or a punch in the right spot all end lives in seconds. Anoor believes in giving all foes an equally quick death no matter what they've done and rarely leaves anybody to linger on the path to Grenth. More often than not Anoor disappears into thin air or tosses out a smoke bomb to confuse enemies before striking.

Where does he live? Anoor doesn't have any actual residences but he usually stays at the Chantry of Secrets if in central Tyria, but is currently in Amoon (and yet the house is written in Velouree's name).
Has THREE jackals. THREE. WHO LET HIM? Two are just puppies, but they shed sand everywhere anyway. The smallest is Pebble, second is Rune and the actual mount is named Balthazar for unclear reasons. Suspected mockery.
7/10 times he will bust cover for good food, coffee or tea.
FIDGETY. Luckily all the bangles on his armor make for good distractions.
Very cuddly.
