sylph knew that coral was going to abandon his duty. ever since he met blossom, coral began slacking. he'd forget to bring the tide back and laugh about it, despite having killed an innocent bunch of organisms in the process. uptight, meticulous, and incredibly moral coral: laughing about a slip up? yeah, sylph knew something was up. sylph's pleas for him to see reason and stop meeting blossom fell on deaf ears. eventually, coral told sylph that he'd rescinded deityship. he had become a mortal and that was the last sylph saw of him. good riddance, he's gone, she wanted to think, but a part of her missed him. still misses him. as coral's apprentice, sylph had to assume coral's duties--that's how she ascended to the role of sea deity.
