Created by the Celestials, he and his brother were made to serve their creators. When the Twins escalated their turmoil into war, Icarus and his brother held up arms on Earth to protect the planet from devastation by the hand of the Full Moon Celestial.
Ultimately the war is won, but in the midst of battle, he is shattered and lost to the bottom of the seas, awaiting for his celestials to retrieve him so that he may continue serving them.

For centuries he had waited; his expectation turns to depression, his depression despair. And eventually it all swells into a vendetta and disgust for the celestials; to serve them for so long and to be treated little more than the dirt under their feet.

Icarus eventually does get recovered and put back together by earthlings; however his anger knew no bounds, nearly ready to take them out as soon as he woke up. Once he got situated, he planned to take action against his creators.

Over the years he accumulated members for a cult, their main goal being to destroy the Celestials and anyone who would stand in the way of their goal.
