About
At the time when Calypso Mortis was alive, partams were still seen as being dangerous, due to their lineage from "demons". This made the Mortis family especially despised, as they were seen as harbingers of death or doom. As a result, Calypso wound up isolated for most of her childhood, with other kids her age being warned that she was dangerous for her family's magic. The last straw for Calypso was when her father, who used his magic to be a doctor in the town, was hung under accusation of utilizing curses to extort or kill his patients. A little over a year after, Calypso mothered what the town lovingly and not entirely inaccuratly referred to as Hellspawn, the first of two. Neither child had their parent confirmed, but Calypso herself was very open about them being half-demon.
Frighteningly stubborn, Calypso remained in the town in spite of her everlasting feud with the other inhabitants. She worked as a seamstress, quietly using her magic to ensure her creations were the most comfortable for the body for as long as possible... or to spite anyone she found annoying. Though she wandered the town with a large smile, she only ever meant her presence as a reminder of her existence and health to those in town who prayed for her family's death. Through her understanding of the town laws, she danced around a conviction of any kind for decades, until they had enough. She was eventually executed for her unanimously agreed threat to society, leaving her children to flee.

Sewing She chose this profession because she likes it, and it makes her feel good about herself to create her own clothes. Her effort has led to her creations being rather high-quality.
Fog She likes the cool feeling of the heavy mist against her skin, and often wanders her yard to take it all in. It helps that she's so used to the area she doesn't have to worry about getting lost.
Cinnamon A real treat for her time period, Calypso experiments with the spice every time she gets her hands on it. Her favorite use for it is in teas.
Her Children Obviously, of course, they mean more than the world to her. She'd be willing to give up her life to ensure they see another day.

- No one in Calypso's family could actually control or manipulate any aspect of a body before Thompson, her son.
- Calypso was allegedly descended from high-ranking demons on both sides of her family, though she couldn't even confirm that.
- While her father was publicly executed, her mother disappeared several years before... Everyone in Calypso's family knew who was responsible for it, though they never reported the crime, and it wasn't long before he suddenly fell ill and passed away himself, without a word about what he did.
- A large reason she chose to stay in town was because her family's house had been enchanted to ensure its occupant's saftey. It took several months after her death before the townspeoploe could figure out how to properly demolish it.
- She is a large part of the reason for the stereotype about silver-eyed Partams being cunning and sly.

Strengths
Unshakable Brave to a fault, she refuses to let things scare her into changing herself or her lifestyle. While this was a good mindset to have while she had a leg to stand on, it becomes more problematic when her children enter the scene.

Flaws
Reckless She is constantly poking the bear and doesn't ever plan to stop. In her opinion, if she ever faces consequences for her choices because she was caught, then she deserves it for not covering her tracks well enough.

Summary
Childhood
The Mortis family is one of legacy, but that was never a concern to the up-and-coming Calypso. Surrounded by a massive family in a community that refused to give them any type of respect, they became quite reclusive within a single generation. To Calypso, all she knew was that family friends became people she shouldn't talk to.
