Padlock

Padlock is an incredibly stoic, serious, by-the-book officer, hunting viruses with a fierce determination and strict lack of mercy. His more lighthearted or laid-back coworkers don't tend to get along with his work-focused mindset, save a few close friends. He hates having more work put on his plate by the pesky virus criminals of the Cloud, but he refuses to slack off and gets it done regardless. One particular virus criminal, known only as 'The Witch Doctor,' has been on his radar for far longer than he'd like to admit. Time and time again he follows his tail, and time and time again he slips away.

The reason for Padlock's harsh distaste of viruses is the very same reason for his holo-limb. When asked about his holo-limb, rather than lie and say it's simply a feature he's always had, he just avoids the subject all together. When he was a much younger droid, he was attacked by a rogue virus. It clawed into his arm, and attempted to sprea the virus into his systems. Luckily, a group of anti-viral droids arrived on scene at that moment, scaring away the virus and preventing further harm. But with the damage done to his arm, the droids needed to act fast to prevent full takeover. They rapidly informed him of the situation, and asked if he was willing to do what needed to be done. In his panic, he agreed, and they severed his arm on the spot. He went without replacement for some years, simply wallowing in sadness and hatred of what that virus had done to him. Eventually, he made up his mind. He wanted to become an anti-viral droid, like those who saved him. It was a long process and lots of training, but eventually he recieved the proper modifications- a holo-arm and the anti-viral program, as well as numerous security implements and the necessary technology to power them. He still loathes his replacement arm, unable to feel to the same level he did before, but now he simply uses it as a reminder for why he does what he does.
