Ira

In this world, most of the population has a basic connection to magic which allows them to use magic and spells. If a person wants to use high levels of magic, they will have to study it. But even after this, there is an even higher level of magic ability that presumably anyone can use, but not many people have been able to figure it out. To achieve it, you essentially have to "unlock" something within yourself, but no one knows what it is or what triggers it.

Ira, however, from a young age (around 10 or 11) could use this high-level magic. Those around him at the time don't know how or when exactly it happened, but the magic quickly became very powerful and very hard to control. Ira's parents asked other mages to try to put containment spells or restriction spells on Ira to get it back under control but none of them seemed to work. Some of the more drastic spells even began to hurt Ira in the process. The numerous spells tampered with Ira's magic and his connection to it, thus making the condition even worse.

When Ira became older, he was accepted into a guild, but it didn't last long. Even though he was older, any attempt to harness his magic quickly got out of hand. He was pushed into less magic-heavy roles in the guild, but he yearned to be able to help more. One day, while doing his duties, Ira pursued someone dangerous and ended up getting caught. Under the stress of the situation, Ira's magic went haywire, leading to many casualties on both sides. Ira's own guild locked him up til they figured out how to deal with him. But Ira managed to escape and ran away.

Now, he resides with a resistance group that fights against the magic guilds for the free use of all magic.
