- His target, a wealthy nobleman called Astravas, recognises his talents and bails him out of jail, but under the one condition that Jask started working for him instead. He accepted the terms of the contract and is now a fiercely loyal bodyguard 

- His scars are from a particularly nasty Chain Lightning spell that hit him when he was a teenager, and it was messily healed with magic infused with the only thing he had on him at the time- the gold he'd just stolen (think Kintsugi)
